The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just approved the adjustment and update of Power Plan VIII for Dien Bien province, in which 4 solar power projects are separated into component projects, and at the same time requested to review the connection plan of wind power projects to ensure synchronization of the power system.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the adjustment and update are carried out based on the proposal of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee, the appraisal report of the Electricity Department and the opinions of relevant agencies and units. Specifically, the Project of Pa Khoang Lake Superficial Solar Power Plant integrating storage batteries, capacity 200MW, is separated into 2 projects including: Pa Khoang Lake Superficial Solar Power Plant integrating storage batteries, capacity 73MW and Pa Khoang Ground Solar Power Plant integrating storage batteries, capacity 127MW. Both projects are expected to operate in the period 2026-2030.
The solar power project on the surface of Trung Thu hydropower reservoir, with a capacity of 100MW, is separated into the solar power project on the surface of Trung Thu hydropower reservoir, with a capacity of 72MW and the solar power project on the ground of Trung Thu, with a capacity of 28MW. Both projects are expected to operate in the 2026-2030 period.
The Song Ma 3 hydropower reservoir solar power project, with a capacity of 100MW, is divided into 2 projects. In which, phase 1 is the Song Ma 3 hydropower reservoir solar power project, with a capacity of 20MW; phase 2 is the Song Ma 3 terrestrial solar power project, with a capacity of 80MW.
Both projects are expected to operate in the 2026-2030 period, using the option of building a 110kV transitional connection line on the 110kV Song Ma 3 - Dien Bien 2 line.
Nam Po 1 solar power plant project, with a capacity of 150MW, is separated into Nam Po 1A solar power plant, with a capacity of 100MW and Nam Po 1B solar power plant, with a capacity of 50MW. The two projects are expected to operate in the 2026-2030 period.
Along with adjusting solar power projects, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requests the People's Committee of Dien Bien province to direct functional agencies to review the connection plan of Envision Nam Po Wind Power Plant and Envision Nam Po 2 Wind Power Plant.
In case of arising problems or needing adjustments, Dien Bien province must promptly report to competent authorities for consideration and handling, ensuring synchronization of the regional power grid, and soon putting projects into operation to meet electricity supply needs.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade requests the People's Committee of Dien Bien province to be responsible before the law for the accuracy of the adjusted and updated planning report dossiers. At the same time, localities must ensure the ability to synchronously link power source projects with technical infrastructure systems, and prevent overlap with related plans.
Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee is also responsible for urging and directing investors to implement projects on schedule as approved, ensuring synchronous investment in power source and grid works.
