Ca Mau - The 500kV Bac Lieu - Thot Not LNG line has a scale to build a new 500kV line with 2 curves, about 130 km long.

News from the Office of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province said that on the afternoon of November 11, in Hanoi, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province had a working session with the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) on the implementation of investment and construction of power transmission projects in the province, focusing on the Bac Lieu - Thot Not 500kV LNG transmission line project.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed on common procedures to move towards building this line. It is likely to start construction in early 2026.

Ca Mau province believes that the Bac Lieu - Thot Not 500 kV LNG transmission line project is a project of special importance, aiming to transmit the capacity of Bac Lieu LNG power plants and other power plants in Ca Mau province to the national power system.

The project plays a role in connecting the 500 kV power grid between regions, ensuring safe and stable power supply for the Southern region and surrounding areas. The project is in line with the 500 kV power transmission grid list according to Decision No. 768/QD-TTg dated April 15, 2025 of the Prime Minister on approving the adjustment of the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Huynh Chi Nguyen said: This is a very important project for Ca Mau province, because if the power source is completed without a transmission line to release capacity, the plant will not be effective. Ca Mau province highly appreciates and welcomes EVNNPT's initiative in urgently implementing procedures to ensure synchronous progress with Bac Lieu LNG Power Plant.

The People's Committee of Ca Mau province affirmed that it will direct departments, branches and localities to take drastic measures to remove obstacles. In the immediate future, the province proposed to establish a Working Group to promptly handle difficulties arising in the implementation of power projects in general and of EVNNPT in particular.

The leaders of Ca Mau province assigned the Department of Industry and Trade as the focal point, synthesize reports every week, and at the same time build specific progress milestones for each industry and locality to completely resolve the difficulties and problems of EVNNPT projects that are and are about to be implemented in the area. Departments, branches and localities need to closely coordinate with EVNNPT to build accurate route directions, avoiding adjustments during the construction process.

The leaders of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province requested EVNNPT to closely coordinate with relevant departments, branches and localities of the province to implement the project synchronously and smoothly, striving to complete the Bac Lieu - Thot Not 500kV LNG transmission line project to ensure progress and synchronization with the Bac Lieu LNG Power Plant project.
