Goods sources at markets are well prepared
A few days until the 23rd day of the twelfth lunar month, the Ong Cong, Ong Tao Tet market in Ho Chi Minh City has begun to become bustling. Recorded at traditional markets such as Ba Chieu, Tan Dinh, Nguyen Tri Phuong..., many stalls have displayed early votive paper sets, Tao Quan hats and shirts, incense and lamps, and complete offering trays to serve the early worship needs of the people.
In recent days, there have been customers ordering carp and complete offering sets. The number of customers is not as crowded as peak times, but compared to the same period last year, shopping demand appeared earlier," said Ms. Bich Hong, a small trader selling votive paper in the Ba Chieu market area.
According to forecasts by small traders, purchasing power will increase sharply when entering the 23rd day of the twelfth lunar month. Wholesale and retail markets in Ho Chi Minh City are proactively preparing abundant sources of goods, expecting the Ong Cong, Ong Tao market this year to continue to be vibrant but in a streamlined and economical trend.
Not only at traditional markets, goods preparation activities are also taking place sôi động at wholesale markets. At Binh Dien wholesale market, the amount of fruits, meat, livestock, and vegetables is expected to increase sharply to serve the needs of worship and consumption during Tet.
Fresh seafood items began to gradually decrease from the night of December 23rd of the lunar calendar; by about December 26th of the lunar calendar, production is expected to decrease by more than 50%, to about 300-350 tons/day compared to normal days. In which, sea fish and auxiliary seafood decreased sharply, field fish decreased less; goods mainly focused on items that are consumed a lot during Tet such as black tiger shrimp, giant river prawns, crabs, snakehead fish, mackerel, fresh squid and some other seafood.
For fresh flowers, output at Binh Dien wholesale market is forecast to increase sharply from now until the night of December 27th of the lunar calendar, 20-40 times higher than normal days, reaching about 60-120 tons/day. The main source of supply is flowers for worship and Tet decoration such as chrysanthemums, marigolds, gerberas, roses, lilies, lilies, carnations...
Retailers launch feasts, stabilize pork prices
In order to serve the needs of worshiping Ong Cong, Ong Tao and preparing offerings for the Lunar New Year, the GO! supermarket system this year provides Tet feasts with two price levels of 49,000 VND and 69,000 VND. Each tray of rice includes familiar dishes such as boiled chicken, fried spring rolls, gio tai, grilled pork belly, pickled onions - pickled scallions, bamboo shoot soup and bitter melon soup, meeting the convenience needs of consumers.
Meanwhile, in the period near the Lunar New Year, the pork market recorded many fluctuations when live pig prices increased sharply in many localities, leading to the risk of supply shortage. Faced with this situation, MM Mega Market Vietnam implemented a pork product promotion program from February 7-16 to stabilize the supply and bring reasonable prices to consumers and professional customers.
According to MM Mega Market, the program focuses on imported fresh and frozen pork items with preferential rates from 15-30%, with a total expected output of about 70 tons.
In which, fresh pork shoulder meat is reduced by 20%, priced from 109,000-119,000 VND/kg with an expected output of 9 tons; fresh pork lean meat is reduced by 20%, priced at 109,000 VND/kg, output of about 15 tons. Imported frozen pork ribs are reduced by 25%, priced at 99,000 VND/kg, output of 10 tons. Fresh pork turkey and fresh pork lean meat are both discounted by 15%, with prices of 159,000 VND/kg and 149,000 VND/kg respectively.
In addition, many other imported frozen pork items such as pork shoulder, pork muscle, cartilage ribs, pork heart... are also subject to deep discounts of up to 30%, with selling prices only from 45,000-99,000 VND/kg.
