Information from the Can Tho City Department of Industry and Trade said that currently, the system of supplying goods, food, and foodstuffs to people in the area is implemented through the system of 255 markets, widely distributed throughout 103 wards and communes; 20 supermarkets (4 supermarkets ranked 1st; 9 supermarkets ranked 2nd; 5 supermarkets ranked 3rd; 2 supermarkets not yet ranked). 5/20 supermarkets sell general goods with fresh food; 290/325 convenience stores trade in fresh goods, food, vegetables and fruits.
The program to stabilize the market for essential goods and promote trade activities in 2025 and the 2026 Lunar New Year in Can Tho City has been implemented with 16 businesses registered to participate (as of October 2025). The total value of goods reserves is more than 4,108 billion VND. In which, the food and foodstuff group is more than 327 billion VND and the fuel group is more than 3,781 billion VND.
This is an activity to stabilize, ensure market supply and demand and social security, respond to fluctuations in fuel supply (gasoline, oil, gas); raw materials for animal husbandry, cultivation, production and export.
The City Department of Industry and Trade also implemented many distribution measures such as organizing goods business at fixed sales points of enterprises; arranging and arranging business points for the Lunar New Year 2026 season; expanding the linkage chain from production, cultivation, animal husbandry to consumption to develop distribution networks.
At the same time, mobilize businesses to develop plans to implement the program to bring Vietnamese goods to rural areas; price stabilization points near residential areas and industrial parks; connect with collective kitchens; mobilize e-commerce supply units to jointly organize and implement many programs to promote online sales, link technology delivery services to quickly serve people's needs, and ensure disease prevention and control safety.
