On July 26, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province to organize a conference to review the coordination of management and connection of safe agricultural and food consumption in 2024.
Ms. Pham Khanh Phong Lan - Director of the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City commented that Lam Dong province always plays an important role, being one of the suppliers of agricultural products and food to Ho Chi Minh City. This locality provides the city with many typical, high-quality, and especially popular cultivated and temperate agricultural products.
The motto of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety is to build clean food - fight dirty food, in which, building must always be stronger than fighting.
"Although there are still some cases of violations for profit, we are still pursuing sustainable agriculture, producing increasingly better and safer products" - Ms. Phong Lan said.
Therefore, many practical programs have been implemented such as a safe food chain, a clean agricultural model, etc. In the coming time, food quality assurance and cooperation activities will continue to be implemented on an increasingly large scale and with increasing expectations.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phuc - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province, every year, the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City coordinates with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province to control the quality of agricultural products brought to Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, there are more than 100 vegetable and fruit processing and processing facilities of all kinds located in Lam Dong province supplying supermarket systems and unit markets in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety has also confirmed 19 safe food chains of Lam Dong province, supplying vegetables and fruits with an output of about 19,888 tons/year and pork about 8,869 tons/year for the Ho Chi Minh City market.
Regarding the implementation of the project to build a pilot model for food management according to the food safety chain, Mr. Duong Phat Chieu - Head of the Department of Food Safety Management and Testing of Ho Chi Minh City said that up to now, Lam Dong province has 18 facilities participating in the project.
Of which, 12 vegetable and fruit establishments participated in the chain with a total output of 19,888 tons of vegetables, tubers and fruits/year, accounting for 88.93% of the total output of vegetable, root and fruit chains and 6 chain pig farming establishments with a total output of more than 8,000 tons/year, accounting for 6.97% of the total output of pork chains of establishments participating in the project to supply to consumers in Ho Chi Minh City.
It is expected that in November 2025, a conference will be held to summarize the project on food management according to the food safety chain in Ho Chi Minh City for the period 2021 - 2025, the implementation direction for the period 2026 - 2030 and the Fair will exhibit, display and introduce products of establishments participating in the food safety chain.
