The Ministry of Finance has just announced a draft amendment to Circular 40/2017, proposing to increase the payment level for business expenses, including room rent and other allowances, for leaders at the ministerial and deputy ministerial levels and officials and civil servants.
According to the draft, ministers and equivalent positions when traveling on business can be paid room rental costs of up to 3 million VND per day, an increase of 500,000 VND compared to the current level.
Similarly, deputy ministers and equivalent positions are proposed to receive a payment of 1.3 to 1.5 million VND/day, an increase of 200,000-300,000 VND.
In addition, other positions also have their payment levels increased from 900,000 to 1.2 million VND/day, 200,000 VND higher than current regulations.
In addition to actual costs, the draft also proposes to increase the fixed room rental rate for these groups. Ministerial-level leaders have a fixed rate of 1.2 million VND/day, an increase of 20% compared to before, while other officials, civil servants and public employees receive 550,000 VND/day in large cities, an increase of 100,000 VND.
Also according to the proposal, the staff will receive a food allowance and other expenses of 250,000 VND/day. However, this amount will be paid directly by the management agency or unit.
The draft is currently being widely consulted before being finalized and officially issued.
