Newly established enterprises increase sharply, but the number of withdrawals from the market is still high

According to the report of the Statistics Office (Ministry of Finance) published on the morning of August 6, in July, the whole country had 16.5 thousand newly established enterprises with a registered capital of VND 117.4 trillion and a registered number of nearly 79,000 employees, down 32.3% in the number of enterprises, down 33.6% in registered capital and down 42.4% in the number of employees compared to June 2025. Compared to the same period last year, the number of enterprises increased by 4.7%, the registered capital decreased by 11.6% and the number of employees decreased by 3.3%.

The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in the month reached 7.1 billion VND, down 1.8% compared to the previous month and down 15.6% compared to the same period last year. In addition, the whole country has 14.6 thousand enterprises returning to operation, up 1.6% over the previous month and up 78.3% over the same period in 2024.

In the first 7 months of 2025, the whole country had 107.7 thousand newly registered enterprises with a total registered capital of VND 928.4 trillion and a total registered number of employees of 670 thousand employees, an increase of 10.6% in the number of enterprises, an increase of 5.5% in registered capital and an increase of 11.6% in the number of employees compared to the same period last year.

The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in the first 7 months of 2025 reached 8.6 billion VND, down 4.6% over the same period in 2024. The total registered capital added to the economy in the first seven months of this year reached more than 3.3 trillion VND, an increase of 93.7% over the same period in 2024.

In addition, the whole country had 66.3 thousand enterprises returning to operation (up 49.8% over the same period in 2024), bringing the total number of newly established and returning to operation in the first seven months to 174.0 thousand enterprises, up 22.9% over the same period in 2024. On average, 24.9 thousand newly established and returning to operation enterprises per month.

According to the economic sector, in the first seven months of 2025, 949 newly registered enterprises in the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector, up 0.7% over the same period last year; 23,000 enterprises in the industrial and construction sector, up 3.1%; 83.2 thousand enterprises in the service sector, up 13.1%.

Also in July, there were 7.3 thousand enterprises registered to temporarily suspend business for a period of time, an increase of 14.2% over the previous month and an increase of 7.4% over the same period in 2024; there were 4.4 thousand enterprises temporarily suspended operations pending dissolution procedures, down 56.4% and down 37.7%; 1.9 thousand enterprises completed dissolution procedures, down 29.4% and up 5.4%.

In the first 7 months of this year, the number of enterprises temporarily suspended business for a period of time was 88.6 thousand enterprises, an increase of 13.6% over the same period last year; 41.5 thousand enterprises temporarily suspended operations pending dissolution procedures, an increase of 16.7%; 14.3 thousand enterprises completed dissolution procedures, an increase of 20.5%. On average, 20.6 thousand businesses withdraw from the market each month.
