According to records in Can Tho and some provinces in the Mekong Delta, Ido longan is being sold by farmers to traders and salt production facilities for fruit at 20,000 - 23,000 VND/kg. For the selected type 1 label, the price ranges from 25,000 - 26,000 VND/kg. This price is 5,000 - 6,000 VND/kg higher than about a month ago.
The reason for the increase in Ido label prices given by gardeners is that the supply is not abundant while traders and fruit warehouses are stepping up purchases. The increase in prices makes many gardeners enthusiastic about the harvest.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nghia (Phong Dien district, Can Tho city) said that last year, Ido labels only fluctuated from 17,000 - 18,000 VND/kg. Currently, this price has increased to 20,000 - 23,000 VND/kg. With this price, gardeners still make quite a profit despite increased costs of agricultural supplies and labor rental.
Accordingly, taking advantage of the high price when the supply is not much, Mr. Nghia is urgently harvesting nearly 100 Ido label trees.
"This year, my garden has produced early, so we can harvest. With a price of 21,000 VND/kg, after deducting production costs, I made a profit of 35 - 45 million VND/1,000 m2. In addition, although the obvious impact of the heat has not been detected on the garden, to avoid risks, early harvesting is the safest solution, said Mr. Nghia.

Since entering the hot season, Mr. Tran Van Ty (Thoi Lai district, Can Tho city) has increased fertilizer, medicine and watered the garden regularly to avoid drying out.
"The weather this year is quite erratic, the heat is harsh and there are occasional unseasonal rain. Our gardeners have to regularly monitor to promptly provide water and nutrients to the plants. Thanks to that, the fruit set rate this year is the same as last year, from 180 - 190 kg / 1,000 m2," Mr. Ty shared.
With guaranteed productivity and good selling prices, Mr. Ty is quickly harvesting Ido labels to give to traders. On average, each kg of Mr. Ty's Ido label is purchased by traders at VND20,000/kg, VND3,000/kg higher than the same period last year.
"This season, the family makes flowers early so there is a label to harvest them first. Early harvesting is both expensive and reduces the cost of taking care of the garden during the hot season. With a yield of nearly 200 kg/1,000 m2, the expected profit for this crop is nearly 45 million VND/1,000 m2, Mr. Ty calculated.
According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, on March 30, through monitoring on satellite cloud images, weather radar images, and lightning positioning, the equatorial low pressure trough will continue to operate, and from about January 3, it will move south and weaken. Therefore, the weather in the South will be sunny, low humidity will make the outdoor air hot and dry, and unseasonal thunderstorms will appear in the afternoon and evening.
