Trader Nguyen Thi Nga (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) said that compared to 2 months ago, pork products have decreased by 10,000 - 15,000 VND/kg in types such as young ribs, pork belly, pork belly. The decline in meat prices has boosted consumer demand.
"If in March and earlier, pork increased sharply, some reached 200,000 VND/kg, now most of them are below 180,000 VND/kg. Consumer purchasing power has recovered slightly, increasing by about 10%," said Ms. Nga.
retailer Ngoc Huong (O Mon district, Can Tho city) shared that the price of commercial meat products is decreasing slightly following the price of live pigs. Due to the impact of the market combined with consumer purchasing power, it has only improved by about 5%, and traders only imported enough quantity to cover consumption.
"Currently, the abundant supply of pork has not been restored to the way it was before, so I and the traders at the market only import enough to reduce risks and ensure freshness every day," Ms. Huong shared.
Strive to stabilize prices
Faced with improved purchasing power, Ms. Nga is trying to keep the price of pork products, especially those that attract customers such as pork belly, thighs, and young ribs. This helps this trader retain customers in the face of competition and market fluctuations. "Solders have to sell a lot, buyers have to buy a little, with a difference of only a few thousand dong, then there will be a loss of customers. Therefore, I try not to increase prices or only increase slightly, make less profits but I have an output," said Ms. Nga.
Ms. Huong is also hoping that in the near future, pork will return to the old price so that purchasing power can be restored, people have meat for meals suitable for their budget, and traders can also sell.

At Coo.p mart Can Tho supermarket, although pork prices outside the market fluctuated, the supermarket still positively stabilized prices. After Tet, the amount of pork consumed has remained stable and increased steadily. Along with prioritizing the selection of a reputable supplier with clear origin and source, the unit has a strict inspection process to ensure fresh, quality pork when it reaches consumers.
