World oil prices today
In the past week, world gasoline and oil prices simultaneously decreased in the first trading session of the week. At 8:17 am (Vietnam time), WTI oil price was at 93.74 USD/barrel, down 2.34 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 2.44%. WTI oil price closed the previous trading session at 96.08 USD/barrel, and opened today's session at 96.76 USD/barrel.
Brent oil was at 101.42 USD/barrel, down 1.77 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 1.72%. Brent oil closed the previous trading session at 103.19 USD/barrel, and opened today's session at 104.82 USD/barrel.
World oil prices fell for the third consecutive session as concerns about supply disruptions in the Middle East eased, along with hopes for new diplomatic efforts to end the conflict and restore energy flows.
Saudi Arabia aims to restore about half of the capacity of the East-West oil pipeline in the next few days and is expected to put the system back into operation at maximum capacity within six weeks. Infrastructure on this pipeline was damaged after drone attacks last week.
However, the flow of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz continues to decrease. Tensions between Saudi Arabia and Houthi forces in Yemen also increase the risk of disruption of transportation activities in the Red Sea and affect energy infrastructure in the region.
