After more than 3 years of Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway being put into operation, two additional items including the overpass of Ba Bau intersection and the expressway branch road are being urgently constructed.
According to records, nearly km0 of the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway, South - North direction, a soil road has been formed to construct a right-turn branch road to supplement from the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway. The road is about 1.2km long, belonging to Ham Kiem commune, Lam Dong province.
Meanwhile, at Km1717+513 National Highway 1, the Ba Bau overpass is gradually taking shape. This is the intersection between National Highway 1, the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway access road and the Ham Kiem - Tien Thanh road.
According to the assessment of functional sectors, Ba Bau intersection is a point of traffic conflict due to many overlapping traffic flows. The addition of overpasses and branch roads is expected to help separate and regulate traffic flow through the area.
From July 2023, the old Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee proposed to the Ministry of Construction to add overpasses and branch roads in this area to regulate traffic flow, ensure safety and convenience for vehicles. By mid-June 2025, package XL-05 was started to implement the above items.
According to the approved design, the Ba Bau overpass is 17.5m wide, built on National Highway 1 with a scale of 4 lanes. Under the bridge, a roundabout intersection is arranged, and at the same time, the existing Suoi Sop bridge is expanded.
Mr. Huynh Ngoc Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province said that the department has proposed that the Thang Long Project Management Board initially implement a number of solutions such as installing traffic lights at intersections.
Thang Long Project Management Board has currently organized the construction of the overpass at Ba Bau intersection and the 1.2km long branch road to the expressway exit. At the construction site, the construction unit focuses manpower, equipment and machinery to speed up progress.
It is expected that by the end of 2026, the Ba Bau overpass and the branch road to the expressway will be completed and put into use" - Mr. Thanh said.
The addition of overpasses and opening of branch roads is identified as a fundamental solution to reduce conflicts between vehicle flows, improve traffic conditions and ensure traffic safety in the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway access road area, passing through Ham Kiem commune.
