World gasoline and oil prices continued to fall sharply. At the end of yesterday's trading session (August 26), Brent and WTI oil prices fell by 0.84% and 0.16% respectively. During the session, both types of oil at one point fell to the lowest level since August 10.
By this morning's session, both oil commodities continued the downward trend. At 7:55 am (Vietnam time), WTI oil price was at 81.80 USD/barrel, down 0.43 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.52%. World oil prices fell amid investors monitoring negotiations between Iran and Oman related to the Strait of Hormuz, along with new developments in the Middle East conflict.
According to TASS on August 26, the US has no plans to launch new military attacks on Iran in the near future. Instead, Washington is expected to focus on other pressure measures on Tehran, including sanctions.
US officials said Washington will continue to increase economic pressure on Iran through sanctions and sea blockades, while seeking to bring the increasing amount of oil out of the Strait of Hormuz.
The downward momentum of oil prices narrowed after official figures showed that US crude oil inventories increased lower than expected last week.
The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said that the country's crude oil inventory increased by 95,000 barrels, to 428.9 million barrels in the week ending August 21.
