World oil prices today
World gasoline and oil prices fluctuated sharply. At the end of yesterday's trading session (May 28), WTI oil prices increased slightly by 0.3%; Brent oil decreased by 0.6%.
By this morning's session, world oil prices simultaneously fell sharply. At 8:20 am (Vietnam time), WTI oil price was at 88.17 USD/barrel, down 0.73 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.82%. WTI oil closed the previous session at 88.90 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 88.61 USD/barrel.
Brent oil price is at 92.17 USD/barrel, down 0.06 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.07%. Brent oil closed the previous session at 92.23 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 92.19 USD/barrel. Both oil commodities are currently at the lowest level in about more than 1 month.
The oil market has been fluctuating strongly in recent days amid mixed signals related to the possibility of ending the three-month conflict between the US and Iran, as well as the prospect of resuming maritime operations through the Strait of Hormuz. However, the volume of ships through this strategic transport route is still significantly lower than before the conflict broke out.
According to analysts, the US and Iran have reached a preliminary agreement on extending the ceasefire for another 60 days. However, this agreement still needs to be approved by US President Donald Trump. Meanwhile, experts say the potential memorandum between the two sides has not yet been completed and has not been officially confirmed.
In the opposite direction, Brent and WTI oil prices in the previous session increased again after the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the launch of an attack on a US airbase in response to Washington's airstrikes on the port city of Bandar Abbas.
Analysts believe that world oil prices will continue to be strongly affected by geopolitical developments in the Middle East. The market is currently particularly sensitive to information related to the possibility of reopening the Strait of Hormuz as well as the prospect of maintaining a ceasefire between the US and Iran.
In addition to geopolitical factors, oil prices are also affected by newly released data in the US. Accordingly, the country's crude oil inventories decreased by 3.3 million barrels last week, marking the sixth consecutive week of decline. However, this decrease is still lower than the forecast of 4.1 million barrels by experts surveyed by Reuters. In addition, gasoline and distillate inventories also continued to decrease, thereby partly supporting oil prices.

The retail price of domestic gasoline and oil mentioned above was adjusted by the inter-Ministry of Industry and Trade - Finance from 3 pm on May 28. Accordingly, the price of E5RON92 gasoline decreased by 1,082 VND/liter; RON95 gasoline decreased by 1,395 VND/liter; diesel oil 0.05S decreased by 1,110 VND/liter; mazut oil decreased by 1,041 VND/kg.
