World oil prices today
World oil prices continued to fall today. At 11:21, WTI crude oil was at 73.44 USD/barrel, down 0.12 USD/barrel, or 0.16%. WTI crude oil closed the previous trading session at 73.56 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 74.38 USD/barrel.
Brent crude oil was at $76.22 a barrel, down $0.08 a barrel, or 0.10 percent. Brent crude oil closed the previous session at $76.30 a barrel and opened today's session at $76.26 a barrel.
Thus, world oil prices are on a downward trend. At the end of the first trading session of the week (January 6), Brent and WTI oil prices fell 0.3% and 0.5% respectively. The downward trend continued in this morning's session.
Oil prices were weighed down by some less-than-optimistic economic news from the US and Germany, despite support from a weaker US dollar and forecasts of increased heating demand due to winter storms, analysts said.
Supporting oil prices were a 1.1% drop in the US dollar and a winter storm that is expected to increase heating oil demand. China, the world's top oil importer, has continued to announce economic stimulus measures to help warm the market.
Domestic gasoline prices today
On January 7, retail gasoline prices according to the price list announced by Petrolimex in regions 1 and 2 (46 provinces and cities currently applying) are as follows:
The above domestic retail prices of gasoline and oil were adjusted by the Ministry of Finance - Industry and Trade in the price management session on the afternoon of January 2, 2025. Accordingly, the prices of all gasoline and oil products increased simultaneously. E5 RON 92 gasoline increased by VND 240/liter, RON 95-III gasoline increased by VND 199/liter, diesel increased by VND 125/liter, kerosene increased by VND 126/liter, and fuel oil increased by VND 129/kg.

Forecast of domestic gasoline prices next period
According to a representative of a petroleum business, domestic petroleum prices will fluctuate according to the world petroleum situation. According to current market developments, it is forecasted that in the next price adjustment period, petroleum prices will continue to increase. Of which, gasoline prices will increase by about 300-400 VND/liter; oil prices will increase by about 450-500 VND/liter.
