When it was still foggy, in the flower gardens in An Lac (Dong Ha ward, Quang Tri province), the working atmosphere was already bustling. From early morning to late at night, people were busy adjusting shapes, pruning buds, watering, and preventing pests and diseases for flowers. This is a key time, because all the effort of the whole year is almost concentrated in the last few weeks before the 2026 Lunar New Year of the Horse.
An Lac has long been known as a traditional flower village of Quang Tri. The flower growing profession was formed after 1975, when people took advantage of alluvial grounds along the Hieu River to grow familiar flowers such as marigolds, gladiolus, and dahlias. Over time, along with sensitivity to market tastes, the flower village gradually expanded its scale, diversified types, produced flowers all year round, supplying the market inside and outside the province every holiday and Tet.

In 2025, in Quang Tri province, the weather is complicated with prolonged rain and floods, so flower growers in An Lac village face many difficulties. However, with long-term experience, flowers are still growing well.
The end of the year is a period that requires high concentration, on the strongly growing chrysanthemum beds, growers use small-splitting bamboo to "weave", erecting the flower pot neatly and evenly. The work is not heavy but requires meticulousness, experience and close monitoring every day. Just one slow adjustment, the flowers can bloom early or late, directly affecting the value of the whole crop.
Attached to the flower growing profession for many years, Mr. Trinh Duc Quang (Dong Ha ward) said that this Tet crop, his family planted about 500 crystal chrysanthemum pots and more than 1,500 pots of flowers of all kinds. Some traders have come to the garden to order, waiting until near Tet to transport them for consumption. What he and many households want most at this time is favorable weather, warm sunshine for the trees to grow stably.

In another flower garden, Mr. Hoang Huu Quoc said that his family grows about 2,000 Tet flower pots. To keep up with the schedule, he has to hire additional workers to help during the peak period. If the weather is favorable, after deducting expenses, the Tet flower crop can bring in an income of about 100 million VND. However, the increase in input costs this year has caused flower selling prices to also increase slightly compared to before.
Not only bringing stable income, flower growing also creates regular jobs for dozens of local workers. With flexibility in production and the diligence of flower growers, An Lac flower village is expecting a bumper Tet crop, contributing to the brilliant spring colors for Quang Tri streets.
