On April 10, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee coordinated with Trung Nam - Sideros River Joint Venture to organize a signing ceremony for the investment and business contract for the Ca Na LNG Thermal Power Plant project and the credit contract for the Ca Na Port Area phase 1, creating a legal basis for deploying a large-scale energy complex in the locality.
The Ca Na LNG Thermal Power Plant project is one of the specific works to concretize Power Plan VIII, aiming to ensure national energy security.

The project implementation is expected to form a liquefied natural gas (LNG) center to promote industrial development and infrastructure in the South Central Coast region.
The signing ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long, leaders of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, departments, branches, Trung Nam - Sideros River Joint Venture and many domestic and foreign businesses.

This is the first LNG project to win a bid in the form of an international bidding in Power Plan VIII, in line with the orientation of developing energy supply and infrastructure, contributing to ensuring national energy security and implementing the growth target according to Resolution No. 70-NQ/TW dated August 20, 2025 of the Politburo.
According to Mr. Trinh Minh Hoang - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, the Ca Na LNG project not only provides large-scale power but also creates a foundation for industrial, service and infrastructure development associated with energy.
The project investment helps expand the energy value chain, improve competitiveness and gradually form a LNG warehouse and port center for the Central and Southern regions.

With the advantage of a deep-water port and stable geology, the Ca Na area has conditions to develop into a focal point for receiving and distributing LNG gas, thereby contributing to shaping an industrial center associated with energy, towards sustainable development.
The Ca Na LNG Thermal Power Plant project is planned to include a mixed-cycle gas turbine thermal power plant using LNG gas, with a capacity of 1,500 MW, expected to supply about 9 billion kWh of electricity per year to the national power system.
In addition, the project also has a LNG and remediable gas warehouse system with a capacity of 1 - 1.2 million tons/year; a storage tank with a capacity of 220,000 m3; a LNG import port; a 2,400,000 m long eastern seawall and auxiliary technical infrastructure items.
The total land use area and water surface is about 139.76 ha, of which the land area is about 28.06 ha and the water surface is about 111.70 ha. The total estimated investment is 57.385 billion VND. The project aims to complete construction and put it into operation in 2030.
