“In the first 6 months of the year, the apparatus of the Provincial People's Committee and many departments and branches lacked many key positions. At one point, the Provincial People's Committee only had two vice chairmen, no provincial chairman, and some departments lacked even heads; in addition, the fear of making mistakes and being responsible occurred among a number of cadres and civil servants at all levels, which significantly affected leadership, direction and administration.
However, the province has made an impressive comeback by closing 2024 with a GRDP growth rate of 7.1%. The scale of the economy in 2024 will reach nearly 129 trillion VND, an increase of nearly 16.5 trillion VND compared to 2023," Mr. Le Van Dung informed.
Along with that, the total state budget revenue reached more than 27,360 billion VND, far exceeding the set plan, making it one of the top provinces in the Central region. GRDP per capita in 2024 reached more than 84 million VND, an increase of 10 million VND compared to 2023.
Last year also marked a boom in import and export activities with a total import and export turnover estimated at nearly 4.5 billion USD, of which exports were over 1.9 billion USD and imports were over 2.5 billion USD...
In particular, the tourism sector has had much good news as last year it received many more titles awarded by international tourism organizations and the number of visitors and revenue reached the highest level ever. The total number of visitors and accommodation in 2024 reached more than 8 million, of which international visitors reached 5.5 million; revenue from visits and accommodation reached 9,200 billion VND; social income from tourism reached 21,620 billion VND...
In the field of poverty reduction, in 2024, Quang Nam reduced 4,397 poor households compared to the set target of reducing 2,900 poor households, equivalent to a reduction of 1.01% compared to 2023, exceeding the target assigned by the Prime Minister (a reduction of 0.3 - 0.4%/year). The total number of poor households in the province is currently 20,272 households (4.56%), and near-poor households are 7,955 households (1.79%).
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province said that the theme for 2025 is "Resolutely implementing the arrangement and streamlining of the organizational apparatus; promoting economic growth, digital transformation; fighting waste; successfully organizing Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term". Continuing the growth momentum, Quang Nam aims for a GRDP increase of 9.5-10% in 2025.
