In July, some banks adjusted deposit interest rates or implemented preferential programs to attract deposit flows. However, in general, listed deposit interest rates did not fluctuate much.
A survey of interest rate tables at banks shows that some units have increased deposit interest rates, notably Bac A Bank and VPBank.
At Bac A Bank, deposit interest rates simultaneously increased by 0.2 percentage points for terms from 1-36 months in July. Currently, the bank lists an interest rate of 0.5%/year for terms from 1-3 weeks and 4.75%/year for terms from 1-5 months.
Notably, the deposit interest rate at Bac A Bank exceeded 7%/year right from the 6-month term. The bank applies a rate of 7.05%/year for terms from 6-11 months and the highest level of 7.1%/year for a 12-month term. Meanwhile, terms from 13-36 months are listed at 6.95%/year.
Similarly, VPBank increased interest rates for many terms, notably terms of 6 months, 9 months, 12 months and 24 months, while keeping the interest rate for the 36-month term unchanged. The highest interest rate is applied to online deposits from 50 billion VND or more, up to 9%/year for terms from 6-12 months.
In the opposite direction, BaoViet Bank adjusted down 0.2 percentage points of online deposit interest rates for terms from 6-36 months. After adjustment, the online savings interest rate for interest paid at the end of the 6-11 month term is 6.4%/year, while for terms from 12-36 months it is 6.5%/year.
For terms under 6 months, BaoViet Bank maintains the interest rate schedule. Specifically, terms of 7 days, 14 days and 21 days are applied at a rate of 0.3%/year, while terms from 1-5 months are 4.75%/year.
VIB also adjusted down deposit interest rates from 0.2-0.5 percentage points for some terms. After adjustment, deposit interest rates at counters range from 4.25-6.5%/year, while online savings interest rates are at 4.35-7%/year, depending on the term and deposit amount.
