The beverage industry has increased its advantages thanks to green technology

HCMC - The beverage industry is entering a period of strong transformation, when the requirements for emission reduction, green production and sustainable development are met.

The Vietnamese beverage industry is considered one of the sectors with great growth potential, contributing significantly to the economy and the State budget. However, along with opportunities, the industry is also facing many challenges in market fluctuations, food safety requirements, consumer health and especially the pressure of green transformation to meet Vietnam's net zero emission commitments by 2050.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Viet, Chairman of the Vietnam Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Association (VBA), the beverage industry needs to proactively innovate technology, promote production in the direction of saving energy, enhancing recycling and waste management more effectively. This is a direction that not only helps businesses meet environmental regulations but also creates a competitive advantage in the trend of global green consumption.

In this process, many experts believe that the application of advanced technology plays a key role. On November 7, at the workshop "Vietnam's beverage industry in the new era: Trends, challenges and opportunities", Mr. Tran Minh Triet - Chief Representative of Suntar Singapore Environmental Technology Company, said that advanced film technology is opening a new direction for the beverage industry. This solution helps improve product quality, save production costs and reduce emissions - three core factors of sustainable development.

From a policy perspective, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Tho - Deputy Director of the Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Policy Strategy (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), commented that green transformation and circular economy have become the core orientation of the beverage industry. To achieve the goal of net zero emissions, businesses need to promote investment in energy-saving technology, use renewable energy, develop environmentally friendly packaging and apply an emission management system throughout the supply chain.

Along with that, food safety is still an indispensable foundation. Mr. Pham Hoang Quan - Chief Representative of Swan Analytical Instruments in Vietnam, said that monitoring the concentration of Ozone (O3) in the bottled water production line is one of the important technologies today. This system helps effectively control the disinfection process, ensuring food hygiene and safety standards, while minimizing the impact on the environment.

Experience and technological solutions from international organizations, domestic and foreign enterprises are contributing to promoting the greening of the Vietnamese beverage industry. The conversion not only brings economic benefits but also demonstrates the social responsibility of businesses, towards the goal of sustainable development and a "no-emission" future for the entire industry.
