According to information from the Tax Department of Region VII, in Thai Nguyen province, the total accumulated state budget revenue by the end of May and estimated by the end of June 2025 will reach VND 10,500 billion.
This figure is equivalent to 54% of the Government's estimate (19,530 billion VND). This result reached 144% over the same period last year.
Domestic revenue accounted for about 89% of total revenue (reaching VND 9,080 billion), up 50% over the same period. In particular, land use fee revenue reached VND 3,292.3 billion - an increase of more than 172%, playing an important role in balancing the budget and investing in infrastructure development.
Along with that, revenue from non-state services (VND 1,292.9 billion, up 51.2%) and FDI enterprises (VND 2,020 billion, up 8.1%) showed the trend of recovery and expansion of production and business. The individual household and small business sector also recorded a revenue of VND 114.5 billion - double over the same period.

Meanwhile, Bac Kan province has a modest population and economy with total budget revenue in the first 5 months of 2025 reaching VND 368 billion, up 17% over the same period, of which the assigned task for the whole year is VND 1,135 billion.
The value of industrial production is estimated at 164 billion VND, public investment disbursement reached 978.78 billion VND (up 11 percentage points over the same period). Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue is estimated at nearly 1,000 billion VND.
The above results show that the scale of the economy and development advantages of the two provinces have many differences. Thai Nguyen is showing its core role in developing the regional economy, with outstanding collection capacity, vibrant investment activities, especially FDI, and infrastructure that is gradually being completed.
Although Bac Kan has a small economy and limited budget revenue, it has advantages in tourism, agriculture, forestry and mineral resources with great development potential. The merger of the two provinces will create a dynamic development area, synthesizing many factors and reducing the administrative apparatus.
