Speaking at the Launching Ceremony of the "Energy Efficiency Award 2026" and the Vietnam Energy Efficiency Community Conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang - Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that, identifying the role of energy saving and efficient use in recent years, the Vietnamese Government has issued many related policies as well as launched specific activities to promote energy saving and efficient use throughout society.
Typical examples are Resolution 70-NQ/TW of 2025 dated August 20, 2025 on ensuring national energy security to 2030, vision to 2045; Decision No. 280/QD-TTg dated March 13, 2019 approving the National Program on economical and efficient energy use for the period 2019 - 2030; or Directive No. 09/CT-TTg dated March 19, 2026 of the Prime Minister on strengthening energy saving, promoting energy transition and developing electric vehicles and Directive No. 10/CT-TTg dated March 30, 2026 of the Prime Minister on strengthening energy saving and developing rooftop solar power.
The Programs, Directives, and Resolutions demonstrate the consistent strategic vision and policies of the Party, State, and Government on the strategically important role of using energy economically and efficiently in the sustainable development of the economy in the current and future periods," Ms. Giang emphasized.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang, the Ministry of Industry and Trade pays special attention to energy efficiency for the commercial sector through energy-consuming products and equipment.
The energy labeling program is a state management measure to promote the use of high-performance equipment, gradually eliminate outdated technology products, and towards building a sustainable consumption culture in the community. The program makes a significant contribution to achieving the energy saving target of 8 - 10% of total national energy consumption in the period from 2019 - 2030 according to the National Program on energy saving and efficiency in the period 2019 - 2030.
Implementing Decision 280 of the Prime Minister, within the framework of activities of the National Program on energy saving and efficiency in the period 2019 - 2030, the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade) in coordination with the Vietnam Association of Science and Technology for Energy Saving and Efficiency, organized the "Energy Efficiency Award 2026".
The award is organized annually to recognize and honor businesses operating in the field of industrial production, typical construction projects in implementing energy-saving and efficient energy use solutions. At the same time, promote and encourage businesses to implement advanced management and technology solutions to bring to the market products with superior technical features, high energy efficiency, and energy saving.
According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hiep - Chairman of the Vietnam Energy Saving Science and Technology Association (VECEA), the 2026 Energy Efficiency Award is a communication activity held annually within the framework of the National Program on Energy Saving and Efficiency Use for the period 2019–2030 approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 280/QD-TTg dated March 13, 2019.

Also on this occasion, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized the Workshop "Using energy economically and efficiently: Policy and technology driving force".
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang, the Conference is an opportunity for businesses, experts, and management agencies to meet and exchange policies, documents and legal regulations to promote energy saving and efficiency. In particular, the Conference is an activity to connect the Vietnam Energy Efficiency Community.
We expect the Vietnam Energy Efficiency Community to become a bridge between stakeholders – including state management units, businesses, consulting units, technology solution providers to technical experts, forming a sustainable development cooperation ecosystem in the field of energy saving and efficiency in Vietnam," Ms. Giang emphasized.
