Speaking at the 9th session of the 19th Phu Tho Provincial People's Council, term 2021-2026, Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Bui Van Quang clarified the achievements in socio-economic development in 2024, key tasks and solutions in implementing socio-economic development in 2025.
According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Tho province, in 2024, Phu Tho will achieve a growth rate of 9.53%, the highest in the past 15 years, in the group of 10/63 localities with high growth rates nationwide, ranking 3rd/14 provinces in the Northern midland and mountainous region. The economic scale of the province will reach over 109.2 trillion VND, an increase of over 11 trillion VND compared to 2023, ranking 35th nationwide, and 3rd in the Northern midland and mountainous region.
Most of the important indicators were achieved quite well, notably: Industrial production increased by 16.4%; the index of industrial production for processing and manufacturing in 11 months increased by 42.1%, among the highest in the country. Total import-export turnover is estimated at 30.25 billion USD, of which export reached 15.4 billion USD, continuing to be in the group of 10 localities with high contributions to the country's import-export.
Mr. Quang emphasized that in 2025, Phu Tho will continue to direct more drastic implementation of breakthroughs in improving the investment and business environment, focusing on directing the review and resolute handling of backlogged and long-delayed projects; striving to hand over about 600 hectares of clean land for investment projects in the province.
Regarding economic development: Directing the completion of procedures to start new construction, expand and increase the capacity of 32 FDI projects and 44 domestic investment projects attracted in 2024, completing and putting into production in 2025. Continuing to promote attracting new industrial projects to invest in industrial parks and clusters with completed technical infrastructure.
At the same time, focus on developing essential service sectors to support industrial development; especially research and attract investment in developing logistics, transportation and warehousing services associated with the planning of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway. Continue to promote the movement of building new rural areas.
For social fields, the Department of Education and Training is assigned to urgently research and propose the issuance of mechanisms and policies for education and training development associated with human resource development in the 2025-2035 period, and the development of Hung Vuong Specialized High School by 2030.
Along with that, rectify the work of extra teaching and learning in and out of school at all levels; the problem of overcharging in schools; promptly handle, direct handling according to authority or recommend competent authorities to handle violations. Timely and fully implement programs and policies on poverty reduction and social security.
