These days, on the streets of Hai Duong City, ornamental plants and flowers have been sold to serve people during Tet, most of which are kumquat, grapefruit, peach... This year, many kumquat bonsai pots are sold to serve people's needs.
Bonsai kumquat, also known as kumquat in a jar, is compact and has a more eye-catching appearance than traditional kumquat. With many advantages of being easy to transport, easy to arrange and decorate in the house, the number of people buying and selling bonsai kumquat is increasing.
Ms. Vu Thi Hong Loan - Owner of a bonsai shop on Truong Chinh Street (Hai Duong City) said that her shop has just imported 2 trucks of bonsai kumquat trees for sale. Although it is not yet Tet holiday, many customers have come to ask to buy bonsai kumquat trees.
Ms. Loan said: "The bonsai kumquat pots have beautiful shapes, round berries, green leaves, and are chosen by people to buy early. The average price of a bonsai kumquat pot ranges from 300,000 - 600,000 VND/pot. Customers who buy early will easily choose a beautiful, satisfactory kumquat pot, and the price will be cheaper than near Tet."
Ms. Vu Hong Diep has been a bonsai trader in Hai Duong City for 3 years. Ms. Diep said that the price of bonsai kumquat this year will be more expensive than previous years due to the impact of the recent storm No. 3, making it difficult for people to grow bonsai trees to sell for Tet. However, kumquat growers are taking great care to have beautiful kumquat pots to serve customers.
Ms. Thuy Trang - a resident of Hai Duong City who came to buy bonsai kumquat said: "I like playing bonsai kumquat because it is not too fussy in care, suitable for decorating family space. This year, no matter how expensive the kumquat is, I will try to buy a pot. Buy early to have a nice pot, buy late I am afraid there will be no nice kumquat left to buy".
