Warm Tet thanks to "Union Shelter"
Her husband unfortunately passed away from cancer, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen (45 years old, Cam Giang district) - a member of the Union of Mascot Company Limited, has been raising 3 children alone. For more than 20 years, since getting married, Ms. Huyen's family has lived in a cramped, severely degraded level 4 house.
After a field survey, the Mascot Company Limited’s Trade Union mobilized all resources to help Ms. Huyen have the funds to build a house. Along with the attention and financial support of 50 million VND from the Social Fund of the Hai Duong Provincial Labor Federation, Ms. Huyen and her children were able to have a new house to celebrate Tet. The 3-room, 80m2 level 4 house will now be the new home for her and her children in the coming years.
“My children and I live in a dilapidated house. It is hot in the sun and leaky in the rain. I want to fix the house for my children to live in so they don’t suffer, but I don’t know what to do when I have to shoulder so much burden on my shoulders. For more than 20 years, since I got married, this is the first new house in my life. I am very grateful to the leaders and the Trade Union for their care and support so that my family has a decent place to live, I can rest assured to raise my children, work hard, and increase production,” said the female worker in her 40s, wiping away tears.
In another situation, Ms. Luong Thi Mai (31 years old, from Thanh Hoa) - a member of the Union of Brother CN Company Limited (Hai Duong) met and married her husband when they worked at the same company. However, the marriage was short-lived, they broke up, and Ms. Mai raised her two children alone. In a foreign land, all alone, Ms. Mai had to shoulder and cover all the expenses to raise her children.
Receiving financial support of 30 million VND to build a house for the Trade Union before the Lunar New Year, Ms. Luong Thi Mai could not hide her happiness, because finally her dream of settling down could come true. This year's Tet is probably the happiest and most fulfilling Tet for Ms. Mai and her children.
