Tracking code scanning - technology-era shopping filter

NGỌC LÊ |

Before many food poisoning cases occurring recently, many consumers in Ho Chi Minh City said that they prioritize goods that are controlled and supervised for clearer quality on supermarket shelves and are also interested in the ability to scan codes to trace product information.

Prioritize product identification for quality accreditation

At many supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City, products with the symbol "Green responsibility" are prominently arranged at the shelves, attracting the attention of shoppers. Ms. Lam Thi Vy (resident of Thanh My Tay ward) said that recently she has prioritized choosing products with clear identification marks of quality inspection.

Similarly, Mr. Quoc Huy (resident of Linh Xuan ward) said that in addition to looking at the identification label, he is also interested in the ability to scan codes to access product information. According to him, just using a phone to scan codes can learn more about the origin, production unit and related information, helping the selection become more proactive.

Meanwhile, from retail businesses, many systems said that they have proactively raised quality control levels to strengthen consumer confidence. A representative of Saigon Co. op said that the system currently has nearly 100 suppliers with more than 1,200 items attached with "Responsible Green Sticks". If previously the program was mainly in the stage of mobilizing and encouraging businesses to participate, now it has shifted to the stage of tightening supervision, gradually positioning the quality of goods on shelves.

According to a representative of this unit, in the coming time, "Responsible Green Pick" will be considered one of the important criteria in business operations, thereby creating more competitive advantages for the system in the retail market.

Increase testing, tighten transparency to strengthen trust

Currently, 12 large modern distribution and retail systems participate in the program, along with nearly 400 suppliers and more than 4,000 items certified to meet the "Responsible Green Stick" standard, widely distributed at retail chains in the city. The companionship between the government and businesses is expected to help consumers benefit directly through transparent sources of goods and reasonable prices.

Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade - informed that in the past time, the Industry and Trade sector has coordinated with relevant units to promote the volume of goods and diversify products participating in the "Responsibility Green Stick" on supermarket shelves, and at the same time implement preferential prices to support people to shop during the peak Tet season.

Not only stopping at the supplier self-announcement of test results, the program also strengthens the proactive sampling of goods by participating units for testing and quality re-inspection. This is considered an important new point to ensure objectivity and enhance the responsibility of suppliers for products put on the market.

In the opposite direction, the industry and trade sector and supermarkets also create conditions to support brand promotion, promote goods consumption for businesses participating in the program. This two-way mechanism both improves goods standards and encourages businesses to seriously invest in quality.

It can be said that through the Green Tick of Responsibility, the parties will have more positive points, especially trust from consumers. Consumers also have more opportunities to choose products that are better controlled and more transparent. The program initially creates a positive effect in controlling goods quality, enhancing trust and orienting sustainable consumption" - Mr. Phuong emphasized.
