On April 24, Ha Tinh Provincial Police held a working consultation on ensuring security and order for the inauguration ceremony of Wharf No. 3 of Lao - Vietnam international port in Vung Ang Economic Zone scheduled to be held on April 28.
wharf No. 3 of Laos - Viet international port is invested and exploited by Laos - Viet International Port Joint Stock Company. The project has been implemented since 2015 with a total investment of nearly 1,000 billion VND, a land area of 43,928 m2, a water surface of 42,000 m2, meeting the receipt of 45,000 DWT cargo ships, and an exploitation capacity of 2.15 million tons of goods/year.
On March 25, 2025, the Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration issued Decision No. 254 on announcing the opening of Port No. 3 - Vung Ang Port, Ha Tinh Province.
wharf No. 3 is 225m long, when combined with wharf No. 1 (185m long) and wharf No. 2 (287m long) of Lao - Vietnam international port, it will create a 697m long seaports to simultaneously accommodate 3 large-duty ships of about 50,000 - 55,000 tons; 6 - 7 ships with a load capacity of 3,000 - 4,000 tons.

Ben No. 3 of Laos - Vietnam International Port was built, contributing to ensuring the infrastructure for the socio -economic development of the region and the two countries of Vietnam and Laos, meeting the increasing demand for freight. At the same time, increasing the attractive index in attracting investment in the area and creating a premise to better serve the import and export, transporting goods, trade and cooperation with Laos and Northeast Thailand.
The operation of Lao - Vietnam International Port No. 3 demonstrates the in-depth, practical and effective implementation of commitments between the Governments of Vietnam and Laos on investment cooperation in developing Vung Ang Port No. 1, 2 and 3. Thereby, helping Laos have seaports, opening up international integration, facilitating the export and import of goods by sea, and deepening the economic cohesion and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
