Bringing science and technology closer to students
Vietnam National Group of Industry - Energy (Petrovietnam) has officially launched the Stem Innovation Petrovietnam program on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Group's establishment, September 2025. Through investment in practice rooms, equipment and teacher training support, the program creates more conditions for schools to change.
After a year of implementation, the Stem Innovation Petrovietnam network includes 108 rooms, present in 34 provinces and cities. With Petrovietnam's companionship in building classrooms and equipping equipment, 91/108 Stem Innovation Petrovietnam rooms have been registered into the FabLab system of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA.
This result contributes to raising the total number of international standard laboratories nationwide to 116, making Vietnam the country with the fifth largest FabLab system in the world and the leading in Asia.
STEM expert Do Hoang Son said that the network of 108 Stem Innovation practice rooms of Petrovietnam are precious "resource mines" for national human resources.
According to him, connecting standard STEM rooms with the FabLab network and international educational organizations, including MIT's FabLab, will expand learning opportunities, access to international experts and promote students' creative abilities.
Through this, the STEM room at each school can become a focal point for sharing experiences between domestic and international teachers and students.

For teachers, practice rooms create more conditions to innovate teaching methods, organize lessons according to projects and link interdisciplinary knowledge with practice.
For students, this is a space to test ideas, adjust solutions, and gradually form scientific thinking, collaborative skills and creative capacity.
In parallel with infrastructure investment, Petrovietnam has connected schools, built the Petrovietnam Stem Innovation Club. The Club has become a space to gather experts, education managers, teachers and students in the STEM room network nationwide, thereby forming a connected, proactive and sustainable STEM community.
Not only creating conditions to share learning materials, teaching methods and classroom operation experience, the Club has promoted research activities, organized inter-school projects, creative competitions, professional exchanges and connections with international education ecosystems.
As of September 2026, the Stem Innovation Petrovietnam program recorded nearly 40,000 students accessing it, more than 1,300 teachers participating in teaching and more than 850 STEM lectures built.
From practice room to international arena
From practice hours in the STEM room, students gradually learn how to turn ideas into products, experiment and improve solutions for each specific problem.
The investment in equipment along with the guidance and companionship of teachers and experts has created an additional foundation for students to confidently participate in domestic and international robotics playgrounds.

This is also an opportunity for students to show their ability to apply knowledge, creative thinking and cooperative skills fostered from the school.
Dr. Luu Van Thong - Principal of Cau Giay Secondary School, Hanoi, emphasized: "For STEM rooms to truly'live', it is important to create conditions for students to learn, experience and freely create as much as possible.
According to him, STEM activities need to be maintained daily, expanding learning opportunities for students. Petrovietnam's support is practical because many schools find it difficult to equip themselves with modern technology with existing budgets.
Having access to and using modern equipment, meeting international standards from the beginning will help students shorten the gap, form logical thinking, improve cooperation ability, participate in international playgrounds and access advanced knowledge and technology of the world.
After a year of implementation, initial results show that Stem Innovation Departments of Petrovietnam are contributing to building an education that values practical competence, independent thinking and innovation.
This direction is consistent with Resolution 71-NQ/TW dated August 22, 2025 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development.
The resolution sets out requirements for modernizing schools and classrooms, investing in practice classrooms and STEM/STEAM experience spaces; and at the same time improving the quality of teachers, developing digital capacity, applying technology and artificial intelligence in teaching, testing, and evaluation.
This is the basis for STEM education to be deployed methodically, linking infrastructure investment with innovation in teaching and learning methods.
On the foundation of the network that has been formed, schools strengthen connections, share lectures, learning materials and operating experience; coordinate to organize joint projects, expand professional exchange opportunities.
Regularly exploiting each practice room will create more opportunities to discover abilities and nurture students' love for science.
With persistent companionship, Petrovietnam has been and is contributing to creating a foundation, giving the young generation modern equipment, expanding opportunities to access knowledge, nurturing dreams and nurturing the most precious energy source of the country: intelligence, aspirations and creativity of Vietnamese people.
