Strengthening inspection and handling of infringing goods on e-commerce platforms

Hanoi - At the end of the year and the Lunar New Year 2025, e-commerce platforms are bustling with activity, this is also the time when it is easy to lead to law violations.

According to the Hanoi Market Management Department - Standing Agency of the City's Steering Committee 389, the explosion of information technology services and the increasing demand for buying and selling of people via the internet environment, proactively detecting violations on the internet environment is facing many difficulties because violators often introduce genuine products on the website, but when delivering the goods, they are fake, of unknown origin, and of poor quality.

Many people have encountered cases of "false advertising" but have not reported them to the authorities because the value of the goods was not high.

Faced with the above situation, during the peak of the year-end and the Lunar New Year 2025, the Hanoi Market Management Department is stepping up inspection and examination of goods on e-commerce platforms, especially cross-border low-cost trading platforms, and social networking sites such as Facebook, Zalo, and TikTok.

The goal of the inspections and checks is to promptly detect and handle acts of taking advantage of e-commerce to trade in prohibited goods, counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin, and goods that violate intellectual property rights.

To achieve high efficiency in handling, Hanoi Market Management will strengthen coordination and information exchange with functional units such as police, customs and border guards. Along with that, Hanoi Market Management also coordinates with the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade) to review e-commerce platforms, websites and social networking applications to detect and handle illegal business activities.

These inspection and handling activities not only demonstrate the determination of Hanoi Market Management in the fight against smuggling and trade fraud, but also contribute to ensuring consumer rights and maintaining economic order in the city.

In the coming time, the Hanoi Market Management force will continue to strengthen monitoring measures and closely coordinate with functional units to strictly handle violations, especially during the period of high consumer demand at the end of the year and the Lunar New Year 2025.

Continue to strengthen coordination with news agencies and press to promote propaganda; promptly reflect the situation and results of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; publicize hotline numbers to receive and handle reports on smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.

At the same time, in addition to the strong involvement of the authorities, each citizen needs to raise awareness and say no to goods of unknown origin. Only then will the market be truly stable and healthy during the peak period at the end of the year.
