According to records, many large streets such as Le Duan, Hung Vuong, Nguyen Van Linh, Dien Bien Phu or September 2 Street have moon cake stalls that are splendidly built and displayed for sale. However, the buying and selling scene is still deserted, consumption is not as vibrant as expected.
This year's cake prices tend to increase slightly, ranging from 60,000 - 90,000 VND/traditional baked and sticky rice cake. Special, high-end lines of big brands cost from 500,000 VND to 5 million VND/box.
Many customers have not yet decided to deposit money, most of them want to wait until the full moon. "Every Mid-Autumn Festival, I buy cakes to worship ancestors and give to relatives. I usually buy them close to the full moon, said Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung (Hoa Xuan Ward).
The owners of the stalls also admitted that the number of individual customers has decreased sharply. "Last year at the same time, I doubled my sales. This year, people are considering a lot, often waiting for discounts or promotions, a trader on Dien Bien Phu Street shared.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Huy - an employee of a moon cake shop on Dien Bien Phu Street, although it opened for sale half a month earlier than usual, purchasing power was still slow, mainly coming from gift orders from agencies and units. Mr. Huy said that if the Mid-Autumn Festival is near, demand may increase.

Previously, the Food Safety Management Board (FSB) of Da Nang City organized an inspection of food production and trading establishments serving the Mid-Autumn Festival in the area. In parallel with the inspection, the authorities and local authorities also stepped up propaganda of food safety knowledge to businesses and consumers.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Hong - Captain of Food Safety Management Team No. 1, Da Nang Food Safety Management Board said: "Every year, the Mid-Autumn Festival is the peak of confectionery business, so we coordinate with the Environmental Police, Market Management forces and local authorities to inspect production facilities, shops and grocery stores.
The inspection focuses on the origin of raw materials, quality declaration documents and business conditions. At the same time, we also advise people to be vigilant with floating goods, selling online of unknown origin, and at risk of being smuggled goods".
