Abundant supply, stable price
According to records, in the first days of the Lunar New Year holiday, prices of essential goods such as fresh food, vegetables, confectionery, and fruits at traditional markets increased slightly but there was no shortage or price increase. At supermarkets and shopping malls, prices remained stable thanks to price stabilization programs.
In Hanoi, purchasing power is mainly focused on typical Tet items such as banh chung, fruits, peach blossoms and vegetables. The price of peach blossoms this year has increased slightly, ranging from 300,000 - 1,200,000 VND/pot, depending on the type. Some vegetable items have stable prices such as tomatoes (10,000 - 15,000 VND/kg), cabbage (10,000 - 15,000 VND/piece), broccoli (5,000 - 10,000 VND/piece). However, the price of bananas for incense has increased sharply to 50,000 VND/bunch due to limited supply.
In Ho Chi Minh City, purchasing power at supermarkets and traditional markets increased by 20-30% compared to normal days. Items in the price stabilization program are maintained at 5% lower than market prices, creating conditions for people to shop with peace of mind.
Price forecast for the coming days
The Ministry of Finance forecasts that in the coming days, prices of fresh food items such as chicken, seafood, and vegetables may increase slightly due to people's demand for stockpiling. However, thanks to abundant supply, shortages or sudden price increases are unlikely to occur.
To ensure stable market prices in the days leading up to Tet, the Ministry of Finance has requested ministries, sectors and localities to strengthen supervision and closely monitor supply and demand, especially for essential goods. Production and business establishments are also required to strictly implement price posting and not take advantage of high demand to unreasonably increase prices.
With careful preparation from localities and businesses, the Lunar New Year 2025 market is expected to meet people's consumption needs, maintain price stability and ensure the supply of goods during the holiday.
