"Inorganic weather, sometimes harsh sunshine, sometimes prolonged rain, can easily cause pets to develop skin fungus or fur diseases. Therefore, I prioritize taking my baby for regular check-ups and care. Each trip can cost hundreds of thousands, even up to a million VND if there are health problems, Ms. Nguyen shared.
Ms. Nguyen estimates that the cost of caring for her pet in recent months has increased by about 1.5 million VND/month. For her, this is a necessary investment to protect the health of pets and the whole family. If not prevented, the cost of treatment may be much more expensive.
Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Dan Thanh (Tan An ward, Can Tho city) also takes care of her pet 1-2 times a week. She said that in the past 3 months, she has had to spend an additional 1 - 1.5 million VND/month on these services.
Pets are very susceptible to mold, creating conditions for bacteria to grow, causing fungal diseases. Taking your pet for check-ups and professional care helps prevent these diseases. Although it is expensive, I feel much more secure, said Ms. Thanh.
Revenue-rich care services
The increased demand for pet care during the rainy season has helped the revenue of Mr. Le Hong Phuc's store (Ninh Kieu ward, Can Tho city) grow by about 30%/month. Among them, services related to hair hygiene and skin cleansing are most popular with customers.
According to Mr. Phuc, it is the worried psychology of owners about skin and fur diseases when the weather changes that has strongly promoted the demand for these services.
Customers not only bring their pets for health check-ups but also choose cutting, trimming, and bathing packages with service prices ranging from 100,000 - 400,000 VND/time. With more in-depth services such as health care or vaccination, the cost can be up to several million VND, Mr. Phuc shared.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia - owner of another pet care store in Ninh Kieu ward - said that to attract customers during the rainy season, he has applied many promotional programs. In addition to individual services, customers who choose combo packages from 500,000 VND or more will receive a discount or another service.
Thanks to this strategy, the number of customers at Mr. Nghia's store has increased by about 20%. On rainy days, the number of visitors can increase sharply by 30 - 40%, helping the profit after deducting expenses increase by nearly 40 million VND/month.
