Vi Khe ward, Ninh Binh province is known as the capital of flowers and ornamental plants with an area of more than 60ha. Among them, the two largest kumquat growing areas are in Nam Phong and Nam Toan.
This Tet holiday, many gardeners in the kimchi and chum capital of Nam Toan have had traders deposit money early, even all the trees in the garden from mid-September to early October of the lunar calendar have been sold out. According to reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper here, many garden owners are busy tying fruit, adjusting the shape of trees, ready to cut roots, and take care of trees waiting for Tet to be sold to traders.

According to Nam Toan kumquat growers, growing kumquat trees is much more difficult than growing underground, so garden owners must have their own care techniques to ensure that the trees bear fruit evenly, with strong branches, enough green and ripe fruits and early buds right on Tet. Throughout the care process, kumquat growers must closely monitor the weather and each growth stage of the trees to replenish water, fertilizer, prune... to help the trees maintain a beautiful shape and bear fruit evenly. Thanks to stable quality, Vi Khe ward's kumquat trees are always checked by traders early from the beginning of the season.
Having sold all 600 kumquat trees in his home garden since the end of September of the lunar calendar, Mr. Bui Van Cuong (residing in Hong Phong residential group, Vi Khe ward) said that from the beginning of August of the lunar calendar, traders have come to his family's kumquat garden to see and deposit. After selling to traders, Mr. Cuong continued to tie branches and adjust the shape of the tree to be beautiful.

Also ordered early by traders, Mr. Do Van Tinh (residing in Hong Phong residential group, Vi Khe ward) shared: "This year, my family planted more than 900 waterfall-shaped kumquat trees. All of those kumquat trees have been ordered by traders. Each kumquat tree is 1.2 - 1.5m tall (including the pot), I sell them at prices ranging from 1 - 1.2 million VND".
Although he has sold all the kumquats in the garden, Mr. Tinh still consulted prices in other kumquat growing areas early to grasp the market. This year, he noticed that the Tet kumquat market is more vibrant, but the price level does not have many fluctuations.
In Vi Khe ward, flowers and ornamental plants are a key economic sector of the locality, so the local government creates conditions to support people in the production process, from investing, upgrading transport infrastructure, irrigation systems to supporting people to access loans to serve production. In addition, ensuring smooth traffic during Tet, creating conditions for vehicles to transport to the garden, helping the purchase and consumption of ornamental kumquats to take place smoothly.
