On October 17, in Vinh Te ward, the People's Committee of An Giang province coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize a Conference on Trade Promotion, Import-Export Promotion in the Southern region in 2025 with the theme "Strengthening production, trade, services and investment connectivity with Cambodian partners".
The conference is of great significance. In addition to the meetings, promotion of products and brands, connection and establishment of partnerships, this is also an opportunity for the provinces and cities in the Southern region to introduce their potential and strengths. At the same time, promote trade, connect trade, remove bottlenecks, and expand markets between the two countries.

Speaking at the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Thanh Phong said: in recent years, trade relations between An Giang and the provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia have developed strongly. As of September 2025, the total import-export turnover between An Giang and Cambodia has reached 940 million USD. Of which, exports reached 531 million USD and imports were 409 million USD. With the structure of two-way goods, there are mutual supplements such as: raw materials, raw agricultural products for production, seafood, rice, consumer goods, fertilizers and many other items.
With the support of the Central Government, An Giang province is focusing all resources to speed up the progress of key transport infrastructure projects, inter-regional connectivity. Create the most transparent, attractive and favorable investment and business environment for businesses to feel secure in investing and developing long-term.
An Giang is a two-way cargo transit gateway, a strategic trade hub of the entire Mekong Delta, with Phnom Penh and the Gulf of Thailand. Therefore, the province also invites Cambodian enterprises to cooperate in building raw material areas, then bring them to deep processing factories in An Giang to create common branded products, together conquering the international market" - Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong emphasized.

According to Mr. Vu Ba Phu - Director of the Trade Promotion Agency, Ministry of Industry and Trade: Vietnam and Cambodia are each other's leading important economic and trade partners in Southeast Asia. In 2024, the total bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and Cambodia will reach about 10.2 billion USD, an increase of more than 3% compared to 2023. In particular, the Southern Economic Zone of Vietnam plays a leading role in the development of the country's economy, industry and import and export, accounting for nearly 45% of national export turnover and contributing about 50% of the total industrial production value.
Trade across the Southwestern border, in which An Giang is a key gateway, is developing strongly. An Giang is an important transit point connecting the southern economic zone of Vietnam with the provinces of Takeo, Kandal and Phnom Penh of Cambodia.

Informing at the conference, Mr. Tith Rithipol - Deputy Minister of State of Commerce, Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia said: relevant ministries and agencies of the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia have been proposing and implementing measures to improve business operations and increase efficiency in specific fields. In which, an online payment system was introduced, using a national one-stop system linked to the ASEAN one-stop system, an automatic tax registration and declaration system, an online labor licensing system, as well as an introduction of a public-private dialogue mechanism to address issues and concerns of the business and investment community in Cambodia. At the same time, it promotes transparency in the business environment.
According to Mr. Tith Rithipol, in terms of the framework of regulations, Cambodia has focused on establishing a legal framework and regulations to support businesses and investments.
Within the framework of the conference, management agencies, associations and business communities of the two countries jointly conducted 2 discussion sessions to analyze promising business and investment opportunities, propose many practical solutions, effective initiatives, contributing to expanding the scale of trade, investment and service cooperation between the Southern Economic Zone of Vietnam and Cambodia in the coming period.
