Can Tho - In 2025, Can Tho City's seafood export turnover reached more than 2.1 billion USD, ranking in the top 5 leading localities in the country.

On January 21, Ms. Quach Thi Thanh Binh - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City - said that the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) had just sent a congratulatory letter to the Can Tho City seafood industry for achieving export turnover in the group of 5 highest localities in the country.

According to VASEP, in 2025, in the context of seafood exports across the country facing many difficulties and challenges, Vietnam's seafood industry still adapted flexibly and made outstanding efforts, for the first time bringing export turnover to exceed the 11 billion USD mark. In that overall achievement, Can Tho City's seafood industry contributed more than 2.1 billion USD, which is not only a motivation and pride but also an important contribution to the overall growth of Vietnam's seafood industry.

Leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City said that in 2025, Can Tho City's seafood production will develop in a stable and sustainable direction; the production structure will shift flexibly according to crops, focusing on quality and added value, adapting to climate change and meeting the increasing requirements of the international market.

The whole city has more than 97,000 hectares of aquaculture, with a total output of nearly 783,000 tons. In which, farming output reached nearly 706,000 tons, an increase of over 17,000 tons compared to 2024. Seafood processing and export activities continue to maintain growth momentum; export turnover in 2025 is estimated at about 2.1 billion USD, thereby affirming that aquaculture is a key production sector, making important contributions to agricultural economic growth, creating jobs and improving people's income.
