On August 1, EVNHCMC held a ceremony to announce the establishment of 9 affiliated units after merging Binh Duong Power Company and Ba Ria - Vung Tau Power Company into EVNHCMC, and at the same time merging a number of power companies in Ho Chi Minh City (old) under the direction of Vietnam Electricity Group.
Previously, from July 1, when the two provinces of Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau were merged into Ho Chi Minh City, the electricity sector of the two provinces was previously reorganized into 5 regional power companies to suit the new situation. The Binh Duong area (old) will have 3 power companies including Thuan An, Ben Cat, Binh Duong. The Ba Ria - Vung Tau area (old) will have 2 power companies, Vung Tau and Dat Do.
Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City electricity industry previously had a total of 15 affiliated power companies, after July 1, 10 units were reorganized through the rearrangement of a number of power companies in Ho Chi Minh City.
Of which, 4 new power companies were established on the basis of merging a number of power companies and 6 power companies were kept intact.
Thus, the Ho Chi Minh City electricity industry will now include 15 power companies, including 9 new power companies and 6 power companies that will remain the same as before.
According to EVNHCMC, there are currently many shortcomings in the 5 newly established regional power companies such as: limited application of digital transformation in management, current status of the degraded power grid not meeting operational needs, high power grid incidents, power outage time for project construction is still 8 to 10 hours, even the whole day, no remote measuring tools, unprofessional management models, etc.
EVNHCMC aims to complete the automation of the power grid in the next 2-3 years, the quality of the power grid in Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau (old) must be approaching the inner city area, striving to solve electricity services within 3 working days, the 3-phase power grid covers the area to be ready to meet the electricity needs of the people.
