On the morning of July 22, Mr. Cao Minh Tu - Chairman of Cua Lo Ward People's Committee, Nghe An province - said that the ward police force is verifying information that a restaurant in the area sells a bowl of eel porridge for 250,000 VND.
Previously, on July 21, an article by a diner reflecting on the price at a restaurant in the Cua Lo area appeared on a tourism forum.
According to the content of the post, diners claim that a large bowl of eel porridge is priced at 250,000 VND. Attached to the article is a picture of the restaurant's menu and a phone screen showing the calculation with a total amount to be paid of 720,000 VND.
The information after being posted quickly attracted the attention of the online community. Many people requested functional agencies to check the price listing, sell goods at listed prices and clarify the amounts in customers' invoices.
After receiving the reflected information, Cua Lo Ward Police identified the restaurant involved, and invited the restaurant owner and employees to work to clarify the incident.
Initially, the restaurant owner and staff confirmed that they served the group of diners mentioned in the post. The incident happened in the early morning of July 20 at a restaurant in Cua Lo ward.
However, details related to the number of dishes, how to calculate money, the price of 250,000 VND for a large bowl of eel porridge and the price listing at the restaurant are still being inspected and compared by functional forces.
Cua Lo Ward Police are continuing to coordinate with specialized agencies to verify the reflected content, clarify the responsibilities of those involved and handle according to the provisions of law if violations are detected.
