Gas stations in Hanoi have basically completed the conversion
Vietnam Oil Corporation (PVOil) was assigned by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to pilot the sale of E10 biofuel at retail gas stations of enterprises in Hanoi and Hai Phong; Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) piloted the sale of E10 gasoline at 36 retail gas stations of enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper on July 30, a number of gas stations under the Vietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL) selected to pilot the sale of E10 gasoline have completed preparations and are ready to put this biofuel into business.
At PVOIL Nghia Tan store (Hoang Quoc Viet street, Hanoi), the manager said: "We reused the E5 gas pump, conducted a re-inspection to ensure safety. The store with 4 pumps will switch to selling E10 gasoline and stop trading E5 gasoline. Today, the technical team leader is replacing the license plate and pasting a new nameplate to prepare for the official sale of E10 gasoline from August 1".
According to Mr. Cao Hoai Duong - General Director of PVOIL, the pilot implementation of E10 gasoline sales from August 1, 2025 is a strategic step to help consumers gradually get used to the new biofuel, avoiding creating "shock" in the transition process.
In terms of infrastructure, PVOIL has upgraded existing E5 RON 92 gasoline mixing stations at strategic warehouses across the country to serve E10 RON 95 gasoline. The renovation items include repairing tanks, improving the mixing system and updating new technology to meet the technical standards of E10 biofuel.
PVOIL also aims to not only serve internal needs and existing distribution systems, but also be ready to provide E10 gasoline processing and processing services to other unit enterprises - contributing to ensuring stable supply for the entire market.
With a network of nearly 900 stores covering all provinces and cities and a nationwide port warehouse system, PVOIL has a clear advantage in quickly distributing E10 gasoline to consumers. Moreover, more than a decade of experience in operating the E5 gasoline mixing system since 2010 is a solid foundation to help businesses switch to E10 gasoline with low risks, shortened implementation time and high efficiency. In addition, there is support from a stable source of E10 fuel, a team of experienced human resources in the field of production and processing of biofuel.
E10 gasoline has been available at 36 stores in Ho Chi Minh City, consumption has gradually increased
Recorded at a gas station in Cau Kieu ward, some people stopped to find information about the newly sold E10 gasoline. Most expressed curiosity and expectations for an environmentally friendly fuel, ensuring reasonable quality and price.
Mr. Tran Van Thuc - a technology driver said: "I used to use E5 gasoline, if E10 helps save costs and does not affect the engine, I am willing to change. Initially, I saw that E10 gasoline was cheap, and there were no problems with the cars."
At other gas stations of Petrolimex Saigon Company on Ly Thuong Kiet, Tran Hung Dao, Le Van Sy streets... have also completed the E10 gas pumps, displaying signs informing about the sale of E10 biofuel, the price of this type of gasoline in Ho Chi Minh City is 19,490 VND/liter.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Phi - Head of the store at Petroleum Store No. 38 (under Petrolimex) said that the store has started selling E10 gasoline since the afternoon of July 26. Consumption gradually increased, 204 liters were sold on July 27, 307 liters on July 28 and by July 29 it reached 1,700 liters. However, because E10 gasoline is still quite new on the market, the number of customers using it is not large and customers do not have any feedback about the quality of the gasoline. Mr. Phi expressed his hope that in the coming time, this type of gasoline will be known and chosen by many people for environmental protection benefits.
Speaking with Lao Dong, a representative of Petroleum Company Region II (Petrolimex Saigon) said that the company is completing the distribution of E10 gasoline from Nha Be Petroleum General warehouse to the last store in the system. For about a week, the supply has been carried out in the form of "proofing", and by the evening of July 30, it had been completed at all 36 stores of Petrolimex Saigon.
Enterprises accompany the government in developing clean energy
Although it has just been implemented and needs more time for people to get used to it, initial signals show the positive development potential of E10 gasoline, when the output increases steadily and consumers gradually accept it.
"As one of the major units in the current petroleum market, we identify this as our responsibility to accompany the Government in implementing the green, clean energy development strategy, towards the goal of reducing emissions and protecting the environment in Vietnam," said PVOIL General Director Cao Hoai Duong.
Dr. Giang Chan Tay - owner of a petroleum retail business also expressed his agreement with the policy of encouraging the use of E10 gasoline to reduce emissions, protect the environment and move towards partially replacing fossil fuels. Dr. Giang Chan Tay proposed that the Government should have a decisive and consistent policy. That is, only one type of fuel is allowed to circulate, E10. Domestic refineries - petrochemical plants as well as imported gasoline sources must be processed into E10 gasoline before being launched on the market".
According to Mr. Giang, such a consistent policy not only creates output for E10 gasoline products but also helps businesses reduce investment costs, do not have to purchase additional pumps, tanks or re-evaluate the fire prevention and fighting system, creating favorable conditions for widespread implementation.
