Fining people selling frozen food of unknown origin on Facebook

Hung Yen - An individual selling frozen food on Facebook was fined and forced to destroy all goods due to unknown origin.

Market Management Team (QLTT) No. 6 of Hung Yen Provincial Market Management Sub-Department has just coordinated with Dien Ha Commune Police to inspect and sanction administrative violations against individuals operating business on e-commerce platforms.

Through area management, Market Management Team No. 6 discovered an individual in Bui Minh village, Dien Ha commune, Hung Yen province doing business in pre-packaged frozen food on the Facebook platform, showing signs of trading goods of unknown origin. At the time of inspection, functional forces recorded about 100kg of frozen food including 4 types of products: young chicken eggs, pig intestines, cartilage sausage and duck intestines.

In actual inspection, the business model of the individual is on the Facebook platform without stores, signs and not operating business according to the traditional business model.

At the time of inspection, this individual was posting and selling on Facebook many pre-packaged frozen food products, including items from domestic and imported livestock and poultry such as: pig ears, buffalo meat, chicken thigh garlic, pig tail, buffalo tail, young chicken eggs, pig intestines, cartilage sausage, duck intestines,...

The inspection team discovered that the area for preserving frozen food of all kinds was packed in white nylon bags; did not show origin information on the goods; did not show the name and address of the individual or organization responsible for the goods; there were no documents attached to the products. The business individual could not present invoices and documents proving the origin of all the above goods.

The Head of Market Management Team No. 6 issued a decision to sanction administrative violations with the main penalty of 8 million VND, applied to the act of trading goods of unknown origin. Forced destruction of 100kg of frozen food of unknown origin that does not ensure safe use.
