Full joy when spring comes
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin in 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation organized a "Spring Train" to bring workers back to their hometowns to celebrate Tet. Among the 500 workers who benefited from this program was Ms. Ngo Thi Tuyen Giang. Ms. Giang is from Quang Binh and came to Ho Chi Minh City to work.
After 10 years, it was not until the Lunar New Year of 2024 that she and her two children had the opportunity to return home to celebrate Tet. Before that, Ms. Giang and her husband wanted to bring their children back home to reunite with their family during Tet, but they had saved up for a long time but that wish could not come true. Then, unfortunately, her husband passed away in a traffic accident, so having enough money to buy train and bus tickets for the three of them to return home was very difficult. With the care and concern for union members and workers of the Trade Union, Ms. Giang and her children were able to return home to celebrate Tet together.
It was truly a complete joy for Ms. Giang and her children to meet and celebrate Spring with their grandparents in Quang Binh. And, from afar, Ms. Giang's husband must be at peace because his wish has come true...
In Dong Nai, the program "Union Train - Spring 2024" was organized for more than 200 union members, workers and relatives in difficult circumstances or with outstanding achievements in labor and union activities.
Union members and workers boarding the train to return home for Tet were not only moved by the free tickets issued by the union, but also by the thoughtfulness and lingering farewell at the station when union officials met and gave gifts before the train departed...
Continue to be a bridge for Tet reunion
In response to the needs of union members and workers when Tet comes, Spring comes, Lunar New Year At Ty 2025, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor plans to continue organizing the "Union Train - Spring 2025" by bringing about 2,000 union members and workers back to their hometowns to celebrate Tet in the provinces and cities in the Northern region (from Da Nang and above) and return to their units and businesses to work after Tet on North-South trains and vice versa. At the (departure) stations of Saigon, Bien Hoa, Di An, meetings will be held to wish union members and workers a happy New Year before boarding the train to return to their hometowns.
According to Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the organization of "Trade Union Flight - Spring 2025" and "Trade Union Train - Spring 2025" is one of the practical activities to concretize the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, Resolution No. 07/NQ-BCH dated August 29, 2024 of the Executive Committee of the General Confederation of Labor on "Focusing resources to care for the welfare of union members and workers in the new situation".
Through this activity, it creates conditions for union members and workers to return to their hometowns to celebrate Tet, return to their units and businesses to work conveniently, quickly and safely. In addition, it creates a strong change in the awareness and actions of trade unions at all levels in innovating the content and form of care, orienting activities to support means of transport for union members and workers to return to their hometowns to celebrate Tet and return to work on the occasion of Lunar New Year to become an annual activity in the 2023 - 2028 term, at the same time spreading the attention and support of businesses and society for union members and workers on the occasion of Lunar New Year.
For such purposes, it is necessary to deploy the most convenient means of support for union members and workers; ensure the right subjects, suitable to the conditions of union members and workers. Mobilize and maximize social resources, support, assistance, and sponsorship from partners, organizations, individuals, and businesses to implement support...
Union members and workers are considered for support when they meet the following criteria: Comply with the policies and laws of the Party and State, the rules, regulations and provisions of the unit, enterprise and locality where they reside.
Actively participate in activities organized by the Trade Union; have difficult circumstances or have been awarded Certificates of Merit and awards from the Provincial or Municipal Labor Federation, Central Industry Trade Union and equivalent, Trade Union of Corporations directly under the General Confederation or higher, in the period 2020 - 2024; have not returned to their hometown to celebrate Tet for many years; Have the need to return to their hometown to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2025 and commit to return to the unit or enterprise to work after the end of the Lunar New Year 2025 holiday.
It is clear that, through this practical activity, the Vietnam Trade Union not only takes care of union members and workers but also accompanies businesses in organizing to take and welcome workers back to their hometowns to celebrate Tet/return to work after a long Tet holiday.
The "Union Train - Spring 2025" will run from South to North (before Lunar New Year): From January 22 - 28, 2025, i.e. December 23 - 29, Giap Thin. From North to South (after Lunar New Year): From February 3 - 14, 2025, i.e. January 4 - 14, At Ty.
