Previously, the actor appeared in many horror and thriller films such as: "Ghost In The insides of the insides", "Ghost Crab", "Bong De", "That Son Linh Linh". In a conversation with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Quang Tuan shared interesting things about his milestones in his acting career.
In order to have a true change in flesh when acting "tunnel: The sun in the dark", he lost 14kg, rolled the role of the role of the pedal, so on the contrary, how did this role play the role of his career, especially when the film was shown on the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South, unifying the country?
- For me, the role of Tu Dap is a memorable milestone in my acting career. Because it will be very difficult and rare to have scripts with themes like " Geography: Sun in the dark" in the current Vietnamese film market and give actors the opportunity to show off.
Moreover, Tu Bu gives Tuan a very special experience when he has the opportunity to recreate a slice of the war in the history of the nation and be taken on the image of a hero in history on the big screen. This project is even more special when it is shown on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.
What is Quang Tuan's journey to play the role of Tu Dap? Are you pressured when appearing in a war-themed film?
- I came to "geography: Sun in the dark" at the invitation of director Bui Thac Chuyen. After working with Mr. Chuyen in "Radiance of a Brilliant Land", one time, he told me about the project that he had been cherishing for more than 10 years and told me to lose weight to play the role. I asked when the film would start filming, but Mr. Chuyen said he didn't know. It was not until nearly a year later that I was able to get the script for "The Geography".
Initially, the role that Mr. Chuyen invited me to was the role of Bay Theo, but when I read the script, I was attracted to Tu Dap. Mr. Chuyen considered again because Tu Dap is a very young character, and I am a little older. After a period of filming, Mr. Chuyen was invited by Mr. Thai Hoa to play Bay Theo, and the role of Tu Dap belonged to me.
Every time I enter a project, I consider it as experiencing a new life, just need to do my best and relax my spirit. But I am still worried that when I portray a real historical character, if I do not do well, the film will receive mixed opinions. I have met Uncle To Van Duc many times, promising to try my best and focus highly to portray the role of Tu Dap well.
With the film "Tunnel: Sun in the dark", Quang Tuan collaborated with director Bui Thac Chuyen for the second time. Can you share about your relationship with director Bui Thac Chuyen, your experience working with a director in a very large-scale project like Tunnel: Sun in the dark?
- I know Mr. Chuyen from an introduction by an acquaintance. Before meeting him, I had never participated in artistic films. To be honest, at that time I was not very interested, because I was young and thought that art projects were often difficult to reach the public. When working with Mr. Chuyen, I liked his way of working, thinking as well as his storytelling ability. He can evoke profound messages hidden deep under each film. I started to fall in love with this film genre because there, I was free to fly and be creative.
The process of separating the character Tu Dap must be very complicated because Quang Tuan himself has no idea of war?
- I live in peace and no matter how imagined, I will not be able to have emotions like the uncles in wartime. During the process of playing Tu Bu, I watched and read many documents to understand and take the material to nurture the role. In addition, I was fortunate to be able to meet and talk a lot with my boys, listening to him and shared and in detail so I was able to complete the role of Tu Chong. When I received a compliment from the male, I felt relieved.
Before coming to geography: Sun in the dark, actor Quang Tuan was known as the face of horror films. For you, acting in many horror films is your own orientation or is it a coincidence with these projects?
- The horror film genre is not my own orientation, it is just a coincidence because the horror works I participate in may have more than other topics, and almost all of those projects are of interest to the audience. I myself always want to challenge myself with a variety of roles and the proof is that I am still present in works of other genres such as: "Invisible Evidence", "super-Easy Job" or "Brilliant Trao tan".
In recent years, Quang Tuan has continuously appeared in invested horror film projects. In your opinion, what is in you that makes directors choose to play the main roles in horror films?
- I think the reason I was chosen could only be that I was suitable for the role. The horror works I participate in, the character psychology is quite complex, and I really like to challenge myself in difficult psychological roles. I always try to cultivate and improve my abilities every day, so that through each work, people can see a new, more mature Quang Tuan and always be the choice of directors when they find actors for characters that are difficult to "work".
The films "Quy Cau", "Quy Nhap Trang" and "Diem Thuong: Surya Trong Tinh" achieved a revenue of 100 billion VND, making Quang Tuan the next hundred-billion-dong actor on the Vietnamese screen. How do you feel about the titles of "hundred billion actor", "horror film king" that the audience gives you, and even the dream revenue numbers of many people?
- I think the actor, everyone wants the work I participate in receiving enthusiastic support from the audience. When the film has good sales, I am very happy for the efforts of the whole crew paid off. Having those achievements is thanks to the audience, so I am grateful to the love that the audience has for me. All suggestions for criticism, I recorded to improve each day, each project.
As for the titles that the audience loves me for, I must confess that at first I did not dare to accept them, but now Tuan sees them as a source of motivation for him to try harder, so as not to let everyone trust and love him.
Are the beauty pageant titles a pressure for Quang Tuan? If not, what will be the pressure in each role, each of your films be?
- Actually, my career journey is not very stressful. I only set a few principles to focus on completing the role well. If there is pressure, it is just that I make it difficult for myself to explore and try new roles. I want when watching the film, the audience to only see the character I play, not Quang Tuan there.
Every time Quang Tuan has a new film, the audience will always see his wife's figure accompanying and supporting him. What role did your wife play in the process of pursuing your passion for acting?
- For me, my wife, although she does not participate in films, plays many roles, both as a mother and an assistant, manager, stylist... Except for the things my wife cannot do on my behalf, she will take care of everything else. I am always grateful that my wife accepted to step back and support me so that I can live with passion and work with peace of mind. My current success has a big contribution from my wife.
