Planting forests is not easy and not just rosy
As the ambassador of the "Vietnam Forest" project, it is known that Ha Anh Tuan has helped 32 thousand new trees be planted and monitored. He also announced that 1,500 Doi and green ponds will cover 2 hectares of Thung Trau hill in Cuc Phuong national forest, Ninh Binh... To get the above figures, it must not be an easy journey for Ha Anh Tuan?
- Not easy and not just pink. Among the trees that can be planted, there are also some that cannot survive for many reasons. Throughout the journey of "Vietnam Forest", my team and I have to rely on forestry experts, forest rangers day and night to protect the forest and local people to have appropriate knowledge.
However, even so, many factors have affected the process of tree care and development. In addition, many audiences from all over sent messages to contribute their opinions, knowledge and experiences in planting forest trees. That is a great joy and motivation for me and my colleagues.
I think simply: If you see it as right, just do it, work while studying. If one person supports planting and protecting the forest, there will be a few more people around them who never think about destroying natural forests.
In addition to planting forests to protect the environment, what does Ha Anh Tuan want to spread through this community project?
- We are all completely different entities from birth. What helps us go together to become a society is the root and common belief in the right thing.
Personally, I think that the origin of man is nature. And it is right to be grateful together to preserve the eternity of the original. That's all my music is. It helps me balance and be honest with myself. Let's sing!
How do you think that planting forests can help young people more appreciate environmental protection or convey the message of preventing current deforestation?
- The good thing about the younger generation is that they always have the opportunity to learn from experience. From previous generations and from ourselves. I learn from people younger than me. They showed me the determination of knowledge and knowledge. They have very clear opinions and ideals about the balance between nature and urban life. They do not choose to sacrifice nature for fake lives.
And as I said, in a family where children speak up for what they believe is right, perhaps adults will also consider and be willing to dialogue... I feel greatly encouraged and accompanied by generations of young people. I'm not helping them, they're helping me.
Imagine standing in the middle of the forest where you planted the first trees after many years of growth, what was the first thought that appeared in you?
- As long as I can live, it's not bad! A tree is a life, a life. We find it difficult to be cold when we see a vitality rise up, the desire to exist like us. That is not just a joy from around, it is an inner joy deep within me.
Because it affects the way I see and see in this life. People often say that artists are sometimes too romantic, so they often care about small things. But does not greatness usually start with the atomic acid or something?
2 decades have passed, the public has commented that he still maintains his image - his name as an artist dedicated to social activities, a kind music maker. What do you think about this statement from the audience, in your opinion, kindness is not a big concept?
- I am praised by the public and the audience for being kind and having good music. My heart is happy, I always believe that even though my mouth has never spoken it. And if I had to say (as in this interview), I would say that I always try my best to be the kindest. Not for everyone, but for myself!
I added this a little more. Is there anyone in the world who can say, I am not kind and do not want to be kind too much! So I am like everyone else who reads this interview. We have all been born to be good people. That is not an achievement, but our nature.
Only when they grow up, the storms of life can make that kindness increase. Adults' lives have never been easy, as they age, challenges and workouts increase accordingly. I can't say what I will be like in 10 years, what my career or dream will be like. Just one thing, I never want to sacrifice my efforts to be a good person, to do my decent job at all.
"What should we show off a lot of money to each other for? Now we have to show off how many people we can save, or at least the flood, how many happy days we have to let them live"... He once caused a stir with this saying and until now, the audience still mention this saying in stories and clips. Is that the ideal that Ha Anh Tuan has pursued for many years?
- It is my confrontation, concern and alertness. I have been in love with a lot of money since I was a child. I think when I have a lot of money, I have the conditions to do many things. When I grew up and became rich, I realized that wealth was much greater than a lot of money.
When I earn money, I am happy but not long. When I can use that money for a good cause, I am happy and it stays for a long time. There were times when I felt lonely, caught between compliments or chants.
I discovered that my happiness did not exist there. When I was visited by tired children in the hospital or orphans in monasteries, I felt soft. It is the children with such a strong vitality who seem to hug and comfort me. I was drawn to the beautiful beginning, the definition of life. I see my eyes light, my head is clear and my heart is happy. That is all I have to change the "pair" of looking at life.
The journey to bring Sketch A Rose to the US
Returning to the show "Sketch A Rose", why did Ha Anh Tuan decide to bring the concert to the US? Is this decision risky for a Vietnamese artist like you?
- Sketch A Rose has been a long-standing concern of mine. This project is exactly what I did for myself, satisfying all my worries, I was blind and did not know what to confide in anyone.
Like since I was a child, I have never dreamed of becoming a singer, but I often imagine what I would be like if I stood on stage at iconic theaters around the world? And now when I thought everything was safe and peaceful for my career, I chose the more difficult thing to pursue. That is to realize what I had imagined. Most importantly, I want to end the journey of Sketch A Rose at Dolby Theatre with many dreams to send to Vietnamese music, for Vietnamese music lovers.
As far as I know, the concert venue - Dolby Theater is also the first concert organized by a Vietnamese artist here. What does it mean to Ha Anh Tuan for the first time being held in such a famous place?
- I had a business trip to the theater last month. The managers there have said that we have many Vietnamese friends so we are very excited because there will be a Vietnamese music night for the first time at Dolby.
That's all I'm happy about, because it's like the schedule of many country music artists appearing on Dolby's chart will have Vietnam. I can't hope for anything more that Vietnamese audiences will gather here, enjoying Vietnamese and Vietnamese music in the iconic space of world culture and art.
Ha Anh Tuan encouraged the audience to wear Vietnamese ao dai and gather at Dolby Theater this fall. This is a quite interesting idea. Do you want to promote the culture and image of Vietnamese people to the world?
- Like everyone else, when wandering abroad, suddenly hearing Vietnamese somewhere, seeing Vietnamese people somewhere will cheer like children.
That is the sacredness of the origin. So when Dolby came here to sing on stage, behind him were nearly 50 talented artists of the Vietnamese orchestra. If I could see some of the ao dai of my hometown singing with him, I would have sung it hundreds of times better. That is what I am imagining.
To hold a concert in Vietnam is inherently difficult, but holding a concert in the US is many times more difficult than the issue of traveling and working with related parties. What is your biggest pressure at this concert?
- The biggest pressure is that I put it out but it cannot go to the end. I have performed many times in the US nearly 10 years ago, but this time is a completely different thing. For the first time, I invited the entire Crystal Band band of Nguyen Huu Vuong, Saigon Pops Orchestra, commander Tran Nhat Minh and the Cadillac raft group to the US for the first time with Sketch A Rose.
It was an extraordinary effort by my colleagues in arranging and preparing for the journey with nearly 50 people. In addition, director Cao Trung Hieu is nurturing the creations of Vietnamese visual and design artists on the Dolby stage to create a space for contemporary Vietnamese culture. The latest good news is that we have all received the necessary visas and performance permits, just waiting for the departure date. These past few days, I often sit alone and laugh, that's why.
What is the significance of this concert to Ha Anh Tuan? Are you aiming for a record?
- That must be the record for the most risky singer in Vietnam? But it was a risk, because I took a risk for my audience.
