There have been no reports that India has stopped buying Russian oil, refineries continue to buy oil based on costs and other economic factors, a source in the Indian government told TASS.
"We have not received any reports that Indian oil companies have stopped importing oil from Russia," the source said.
He emphasized: "Indian refineries continue to buy oil from Russian suppliers. Their decision depends on prices, crude oil quality, reserves, logistics and other economic factors."
The source noted, "India's energy purchases are driven by national interests and market conditions".
In another news report also from TASS, an Indian government source confirmed that India buys energy from Russia in accordance with all international standards, and that Russian oil has never been sanctioned.
"India's purchase of Russian oil is still completely legal and within international standards. Russian oil has never been sanctioned and is not currently sanctioned by the US or EU. Indian oil and gas companies always adhere to the US-recommended price cap of $60/barrel for Russian oil, the source added.
At the same time, the source pointed out that the ceiling price for Russian oil that the EU recently announced at 47.6 USD/barrel will take effect in September.
Indian media revealed that companies in this country are continuing to import oil from Russia. Companies such as Indian Oil Corp, Bharat Petroleum and hindustan Petroleum continue to buy oil from Russia and negotiations are underway to conduct spot deliveries.
"The agreements being negotiated now are that the delivery will take place in September," a source said.
Previously, US President Donald Trump said that India would stop buying oil from Russia to reach a trade deal with the US.
