First time participating in the World Championship

This is the first time Huynh Thi My Tien has participated in the most prestigious athletics tournament in the world. The dream of setting a national record
Huynh Thi My Tien has a great desire to find an opportunity to set a national record in the women's 100m hurdles event. She really wants to make an important mark in her career. At this time, the National record for the women's 100m hurdles event was 13 seconds 36 set by athlete Vu Bich Huong in 1999. That was the year Huynh Thi My Tien was born.
At the 2024 National Athletics Championship, Huynh Thi My Tien is likely to break the above record when winning the Gold Medal with a time of 13 seconds 38. Unfortunately, the National record has not come to My Tien. The player's achievement only lost to the National record by nearly 3% seconds. At the 2025 National Athletics Championship in Da Nang, My Tien won the Gold Medal in the women's 100m hurdles with a result of 13 seconds 52.
She shared at the finish line of the tournament: "I have not lost my desire to conquer the national record in the women's 100m hurdles event. With each year, my age will increase, but my determination is still to strive to achieve lifelong achievements. Although everyone knows, this is not easy.
Right in Da Nang, former National Team player (currently coach of the Hanoi track and field team) Vu Bich Huong also followed the athletes competing. She expressed that she was still waiting for Huynh Thi My Tien to break the National Record for women's 100m hurdles because it had been in place for too long, 1/4 of a century.
I am not sad to not have surpassed the national record. In each training session, the coach always reminds me that achievement is the goal, but to be successful, the will and determination must be the highest. I understand this. I have my determination, Huynh Thi My Tien added.

Hope for the 33rd SEA Games
Huynh Thi My Tien is the current SEA Games champion in the women's 100m hurdles. She won the Gold Medal at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia in 2023 with a time of 13 seconds 50. At the central stadium of the 32nd SEA Games, Huynh Thi My Tien's victory was described by domestic newspapers and Southeast Asia as the moment that brought the most emotions. As soon as she finished and knew she had won the Gold Medal, she hugged her face and cried. Tears like a child fell on My Tien's lovely face.
When calm down, Huynh Thi My Tien expressed: I could not contain my emotions at that time because I had been waiting for the SEA Games Gold Medal for too long. This year, the Vietnam Athletics Team plans to register Huynh Thi My Tien to participate in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand to defend her achievement in the women's 100m hurdles. All preparations for our top female player are taking place carefully. However, experts predict that the ability to defend the championship of the women's 100m hurdles at the 33rd SEA Games will not be easy.
Huynh Thi My Tien attended the 2025 Asian Championship (May 2025) to directly face Indonesian opponent - Dina Aulia. In this tournament, Dina Aulia achieved 13 seconds 11 in the qualifying round and 13 seconds 32 in the final while My Tien had the metric of 13 seconds 51 in the qualifying round and 13 seconds 69 in the final.
Huynh Thi My Tien expressed: "I already know that the Indonesian opponent is developing very strongly. Two years ago, she won a Bronze Medal at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, but after two years, the performance index has changed. This is an athlete who will compete in the 33rd SEA Games. I am still focused on maintaining my achievements.
Huynh Thi My Tien and her bowel coach Nguyen Van Loi return to practice after the 2025 National Athletics Championship.
