The Industry and Trade Sector of Bac Giang province has over 9,700 female workers, accounting for 70% of the number of workers in units and enterprises with grassroots trade unions under the Industry and Trade Sector Union, mainly concentrated in garment companies of the sector.
Identifying that female workers play an important role in the sustainable development of enterprises and society, trade unions at all levels focus on effectively implementing the work of caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of female union members and workers, creating motivation and encouragement for union members and workers to overcome difficulties, work with peace of mind, and accompany enterprises in developing production and business.
Mr. Ngo Quyet Thang, Chairman of the Trade Union of Industry and Trade of Bac Giang province, said that every year, the Trade Union of Industry and Trade develops a plan to protect and care for workers, focusing on female workers; directing the Trade Union to coordinate with employers to properly implement policies for female workers according to regulations.
In 2024, the Industry Union coordinated with the Professional Committees of the Provincial Federation of Labor to organize 6 sessions of propaganda and legal advice on gender equality, marriage and family law, skills to build family happiness and prevent violence for female workers at 6 enterprises in the industry; coordinated with the Propaganda and Women's Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor to organize free health check-ups for 200 female workers; supported female union members in difficult circumstances to borrow preferential loans to develop the family economy.
Along with that, direct the grassroots trade unions to establish and maintain the good operation of the Women's Union in the units, to advise the grassroots trade unions and business leaders on activities to care for and protect female union members and workers. Currently, the industry is maintaining the good operation of 23 Women's Unions.
The industry trade union regularly directs grassroots trade unions to negotiate with employers to increase the shift meal allowance for workers; the grassroots trade union executive board regularly pays close attention to shift meals to ensure the quantity and quality of meals for workers; directs grassroots trade unions to effectively perform the function of supervising the implementation of policies for female workers in units, especially garment companies that employ many female workers.
Every year, in addition to regular health check-ups like other workers, the Trade Union also recommends that employers give priority to female workers for reproductive health and gynecological check-ups.
Mr. Ngo Quyet Thang added that in order to promote the role of female workers in the production labor competition, the Trade Unions need to proactively coordinate with the Enterprise's Board of Directors to implement solutions to promote the capacity and strengths of female workers, focusing on promoting training and fostering to improve the qualifications and skills of female workers.
