Currently, Lam Dong Provincial Trade Union has 949 grassroots trade unions with nearly 90,000 union members and workers. In which, female union members and workers account for over 50%.
According to Ms. Vu Thi Oanh - Vice President of the Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation, female workers are mainly concentrated in the textile, garment, tourism, agricultural product processing, trade and service industries. Most units and businesses with a large number of female workers are located outside the State sector, with relatively complex labor relations.
In that context, the role of grassroots trade unions is extremely important. The establishment of the women's committee will help represent, care for, and better protect the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of female workers," Ms. Oanh emphasized.
According to Ms. Oanh, in the 2025-2030 term, the Lam Dong Provincial Trade Union aims to establish women's unions in 90% of non-state grassroots trade unions that meet the conditions according to the guidance of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
This goal is assessed as having a practical basis and feasibility, because in the past time, female worker activities at trade union levels in the province have had many positive changes, bringing clear results.
Notably, the emulation movement "Good at state affairs, good at housework" is maintained regularly, with widespread spread.
Every year, over 80% of female union members and workers achieve this title at all levels; thousands of female union members and trade union officials with outstanding achievements in labor, production and movement activities are commended.
Through women's work activities, the sense of responsibility, professional awareness and aspiration to rise up of female union members and workers in various fields are increasingly awakened.
In the coming time, trade union levels in Lam Dong province will continue to promote the role of women's committees at the grassroots level, promote the development of advanced examples, good models, and creative ways of working. Thereby improving the effectiveness of caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of female workers.
