The visits, encouragement and support were held right at the boarding houses of union members and workers in Co Linh and Thach Ban wards (Long Bien). Not only caring, talking and sharing with union members and workers, the leaders of the Hanoi City Labor Federation and the leaders of the Hanoi Industrial and Export Processing Zones Trade Union also gave gifts and encouraged the boarding house owners. At the boarding house on Co Linh Street, the union officials gave Tet gifts to Mr. Luu Quang Hai - the owner of the boarding house.
At this address, Mr. Hai has 6 rooms for rent. According to the workers staying here, depending on the area and the accommodation needs of each person and each family, in general, the rooms meet the most basic needs for their life away from home. Talking to Mr. Hai, the Union officials hope that he, as the owner of the boarding house, will always share and help the workers staying here. Mr. Hai is very touched by the affection of the Union organization for him on the occasion of the traditional New Year...
Sharing the same sentiment with Mr. Hai, Ms. Truong Thi Duyen - the owner of the boarding house in Thach Ban said that she was very surprised to receive Tet gifts from the Trade Union. Like Mr. Hai, Ms. Duyen also often shares and helps workers who are staying in the boarding houses she owns, especially when they have difficulties with jobs and income.
Paying attention to the landlord force to take care of union members and workers is a good way. From the encouragement of the Union, many landlords are willing to reduce the rent for workers when they have difficulty with income.
For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the coordination between the Dong Anh District Trade Union and the government, about 1,300 landlords reduced the rental price for over 9,000 rooms with a total amount of over 5 billion VND, each room was reduced by at least 50%, even 100% of the rental price for workers.
In many places, there are landlords who are also the leaders of the Self-Management Groups of workers' dormitories. Therefore, creating a close relationship between landlords and the Trade Union will create favorable conditions for workers to stay as well as coordinate in educating and caring for them.
