B'La is a remote commune of Bao Lam district, Lam Dong province, where most of the residents are indigenous people of the Central Highlands. However, this locality is becoming a "bright spot" for sustainable security.
Ms. Ka Xuan - a disadvantaged household in B'La commune who has just been supported to build a house - emotionally shared: "Having a new house to build a solid house, I am very happy. From now on, my family can work with peace of mind and develop more."
According to Ms. Hoang Thi My Hang - Secretary of the Party Committee of B'La commune - this achievement comes from the spirit of sharing, community responsibility of the government, the political system and the consensus of the people.
To develop sustainably, it must rely on community internal strength. The spirit of consensus and sharing is the foundation for B'La to ensure security and better care for the people", Ms. Hang emphasized.
A typical example is the emulation movement "eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" that is spreading widely in the community. Recently, the commune has handed over 9 "big solidarity" houses to poor, near-poor households and ethnic minorities in difficult circumstances.
Each house has an area of about 50m2, meeting the "three hard" criteria: hard foundation, hard frame, hard roof, with a total construction cost of nearly 1 billion VND. Of which, 6 houses were supported by the District's Fund for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses, each house worth 50 million VND; the remaining houses were built by people in the commune.
In addition to the support, households also accumulate and borrow more to match, making the house more spacious and sturdy.
Thanks to the effective coordination model, B'La has completed the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the period of 2024-2025.
More importantly, this model helps improve community responsibility, arousing the awareness of each household's self-reliance to escape poverty.
According to Ms. Hang, supporting housing construction is an important "piece", creating a fulcrum for people to stabilize their lives, increase confidence and motivation for economic development.
During the recent Tet holiday, B'La commune has allocated nearly 66.4 million VND to support poor and near-poor households to enjoy spring and celebrate Tet. Commune organizations have also mobilized more than 2.7 billion VND to take care of more than 3,360 households in difficult circumstances and more than 6,200 students.
Along with that, rural infrastructure in B'La is increasingly being invested in. The rate of people using hygienic water reached 99%, households with hygienic water intake reached 98%, the rate of people participating in health insurance reached 91.48%...
Sustainable security in the garden today is the result of joint efforts between the government, organizations and the peoples consensus, Ms. Hang affirmed.
