Can Tho opens the 1st Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front

Can Tho - On November 22, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City held the 1st Congress of Delegates for the 2025 - 2030 term.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Luong Quoc Doan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front (FFC) and Central organizations, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union; Mr. Le Quang Tung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee; Mr. Dong Van Thanh - Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Council; Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao - Member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City; former leaders of Soc Trang, Hau Giang and Can Tho Province, through the past three periods, along with 350 representatives of all ethnic groups and representatives of all over the country, representing representatives of all walks of life and country.

Speaking at the opening of the Congress, Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao emphasized: The 1st Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Can Tho City, term 2025 - 2030, was held in the context of the entire political system synchronously implementing the policies, resolutions, directives and conclusions of the Central and the city on streamlining the organization and apparatus and model of local government at 2 levels; at the same time continuing the success of the 1st Congress of the City Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030.

"This is an important milestone, marking the consolidation and improvement of socio-political organizations and mass organizations assigned by the Party and State to be directly under the Vietnam Fatherland Front, creating a premise to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Can Tho City Fatherland Front in the new period," she said.

Ms. Dao said that this Congress has the task of reviewing and evaluating the results of the Front's work from the beginning of the 2024 - 2029 term to date, pointing out the advantages, limitations, drawing lessons; at the same time, discussing and resolving the Action Program for the 2025 - 2030 term, identifying goals, directions, tasks and specific solutions to improve the operational efficiency of the Front system in the new period.

The Congress discussed and commented on amending and supplementing the Charter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; contributed opinions to the Draft Documents of the National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2026 - 2031 term. At this Congress, the important task is the democratic delegation sent to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City for the 2025 - 2030 term, ensuring the number, structure, and components are reasonable, streamlined, demonstrating the wide representation, exemplary nature, and being able to effectively implement the tasks of the Front in the new situation. At the same time, the Congress will also consultally send the City's delegation to attend the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2026 - 2031.

Ms. Dao affirmed that after 40 years of renovation, our country has achieved many great achievements of historical significance, creating position and momentum for development in the new period. The entire Party, the entire people and the entire army are united and unanimously entering an era of strong national development.

In keeping with the country, the Party Committee, government, the Fatherland Front and the people of Can Tho City continue to inherit the achieved achievements, strive to build the city to develop quickly, sustainably and modernly; strive to become one of the growth poles of the country by 2030, playing a driving force for the development of the Mekong Delta.

With the motto "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Development", the Congress Presidium hopes that the delegates will promote their intelligence, sense of responsibility, contribute many enthusiastic opinions, propose solutions to innovate the content and methods of operation; clearly identify key goals and tasks, contribute to strengthening the great national unity bloc, building and firmly defending the Fatherland, making Can Tho City develop quickly, sustainably and modernly in the coming time.
