Lam Dong needs to focus on social security, supporting people to overcome the consequences of floods

Lam Dong - Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front kindly visited and shared the difficulties and losses that people in Ka Do commune have suffered due to floods.

On the morning of November 22, Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, inspected and visited people in flooded areas in Ka Do commune (Lam Dong).

Accompanying him were leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lam Dong province. During the prolonged flood, Ka Do commune was one of the localities that suffered heavy damage.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Ka Do commune, Mr. Nguyen Huu Chi, said that floods have caused hundreds of houses to be flooded and damaged, forcing people to evacuate urgently.

Hundreds of hectares of crops, greenhouses, assets and livestock of the people were swept away by the water, leaving many families penniless. Initial preliminary estimates show that floods have caused more than 100 billion VND in damage in the commune.

Visiting Ka Do commune, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai kindly visited the health and living conditions, and shared with households heavily affected by historic floods.

The Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front also encouraged people to stay calm, united, and trust in the leadership of the Party, government and functional forces; strive to overcome difficulties to stabilize their lives.

Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai requested agencies and units to focus resources on supporting people, ensuring necessities, and health care, especially paying attention to poor households, disadvantaged families, the elderly and children.

Lam Dong provincial authorities at all levels will soon deploy social security work; armed forces will focus on supporting people to overcome the consequences of floods, ensure a living environment, and soon stabilize people's lives.

Also in Ka Do commune, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai directly visited and encouraged and presented support to 2 families that suffered heavy damage due to floods, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kinh and Bui Trinh Duc Minh.

Of which, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kinh's family suffered more than 1.3 hectares of vegetables, estimated to have lost about 350 million VND. Mr. Bui Trinh Duc Minh's family has 1 hectare of a house growing babi melons and bell peppers that was swept away by flood, causing damage of about 1.4 billion VND.
