On the afternoon of May 15, in Hanoi, Thanh Nien Newspaper coordinated with relevant agencies to organize a workshop "Political and ideological work ahead, paving the way in the new era".
The conference was attended by Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Student Association Nguyen Minh Triet; former Member of the Party Central Committee, former First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Vu Trong Kim; Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee Dinh Thi Mai; Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central Agencies Ngo Van Cuong.
Unlocking all resources for the country to confidently step forward
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Federation, said that on April 8, General Secretary To Lam, on behalf of the Central Party Committee, signed and issued Regulation 19-QD/TW on political and ideological work in the Party. This is the first time the Central Party Committee has issued a systemic and comprehensive regulation, marking a historic shift in the thinking of managing political and ideological work.
Journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan emphasized that, in the face of the requirements of the new period, Regulation 19 clearly states that political and ideological work is not only to "fight" recession, but more importantly to "build". The most important focus is to ensure the role of "going ahead, opening the way", proactively grasping, forecasting and leading public opinion, absolutely not to fall into a passive or surprised position.
According to journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Vietnam currently has about 21.6 million young people, accounting for more than 20% of the population. This is a generation born and raised in the digital environment, with sharp thinking but also the most strongly affected by multi-dimensional and complex information flows in cyberspace. Therefore, if education methods are not innovated and ideology is not unlocked in time, a part of young people will easily fall into a state of fading ideals and declining will to strive.
In that context, according to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Toan, emphasizing the deep awareness of the responsibility of press agencies in propaganda and political ideology education, Thanh Nien Newspaper - a forum of the Vietnam Youth Federation, the voice of youth nationwide - in coordination with relevant agencies organized a workshop with the desire to bring insightful and rich perspectives, pointing out breakthrough and highly practical solutions to implement Regulation 19, especially in political and ideological work for youth.
More than ever, the strength of a nation is not only measured by economic potential or population size, but is determined by the unity of will, the depth of culture and a great unity that cannot be broken. Innovation in political and ideological work, in the final analysis, is to firmly consolidate that "ideological axis", keep the roots of the Party always sustainable, the people's hearts always favorable, and unlock all resources for the country to confidently stride forward," Mr. Toan affirmed.
Anatomy of the root cause of "political indifference" of a part of young people
Speaking to direct and introduce the workshop, Ms. Dinh Thi Mai, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, also emphasized that Regulation No. 19-QD/TW was issued to mark the innovation of thinking, theoretical and ideological awareness on the basis of taking "4 steadfastness" as the foundational, immutable principle, strongly shifting from "orientation, encouragement" to "institutional, mandatory", "behavior adjustment", from " qualitative" assessment to specific "quantification", taking the results of political task performance and people's satisfaction as the highest measure.
Faced with the requirements and tasks of the new development era with 2 strategic goals "100 years", more than ever, political and ideological work must innovate itself, elevate its mission, "go ahead to pave the way", "proactively lead", "direct practice".
The Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission assessed that the conference is of profound significance, a step to concretize the resolutions of the 2nd Plenum of the 14th Central Committee and Regulation No. 19 into the practice of ideological and political work of mass organizations at all levels in the new era of development.
To achieve this goal, the Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission proposed that the workshop focus on clarifying the methods and binding mechanisms to "quantify" responsibilities in implementing Regulation No. 19-QD/TW. Accordingly, the workshop needs to deeply analyze the method of evaluating and measuring the quality and effectiveness of ideological work as well as the role and responsibility of Party committees and Party organizations, especially heads, ensuring according to "power to where, responsibility to there" and "no safe zone" if leadership is lax.
Ms. Mai also suggested that the conference should aim to shape solutions to "go ahead, pave the way", "proactively lead", especially in cyberspace. At the same time, breakthrough in innovating education for the young generation.

At the workshop, presentations and open discussion sessions with the participation of experts, scientists, and Youth Union leaders of all periods focused on contributing opinions to implement Regulation 19 in practice, and solutions to innovate political and ideological work among young people and the young generation.
Nurturing a young generation with aspirations and responsibility to the country
Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Student Association Nguyen Minh Triet affirmed that political and ideological work has always been identified as the top important task in Party building work, playing the role of "going ahead, opening the way", deciding the success of the revolutionary cause.
In the current context, political and ideological work therefore also needs a comprehensive strategy, comprehensive innovation to meet the requirements of new tasks. Therefore, the organization of this workshop will contribute to clarifying the tasks of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the youth of the whole country to concretize the important viewpoints and policies in the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress and the Party's ideological work strategy in the coming period. At the same time, it is the basis for researching and perfecting tasks and solutions in political and ideological education of the Union to submit to the upcoming 13th National Youth Union Congress.
Therefore, more than ever, the political and ideological education of the Youth Union must be placed in a new strategic vision; it cannot just stop at propaganda, dissemination, and explanation, but must truly take the lead in opening the way, proactively leading, building trust, fostering ideals, building bravery, arousing aspirations and creating a solid ideological resistance for young people.
From the opinions at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet concluded that youth union organizations, youth, and union members need to continue to firmly uphold the ideological foundation of the Party, firmly uphold the goal of educating revolutionary ideals, morality, and cultural lifestyle for youth and children, considering this as the core and consistent task of the Youth Union organization, in order to foster the young generation with firm political bravery, patriotism, aspiration to contribute and responsibility to the country.
Mr. Triet also requested, especially focusing on grasping and orienting public opinion, through closely combining many methods; applying big data to grasp, synthesize, process and orient public opinion. From understanding the thoughts and aspirations, it is necessary to be more proactive and timely in providing information, providing information quickly, concisely, accurately, helping young people access official information early and sufficiently, without being affected by bad news, fake news, and harmful news.
